Right now, I'm looking at Imperial Palace and Excalibur. Are there any others ones that fit a small budget? Which of these two would you recommend?

Cheap = no more than $120 dollars for two adults on a weekday. Yup, that cheap. :)

Imperial palace is a decent hotel they just remodeled the rooms. It is in the middle of the strip and they have a monorail station. Great location. Check out each of the hotels web sites for best prices.

Check out these Vegas sites they have great information on hotels, food, entertainment, attractions and what shows are playing and what is going on in Vegas during you trip. They also have info on free things to do in Vegas.

vegas.com
lasvegas.com
accessvegas.com

Also when you get there get a copy of What's On magazine it has coupons and other info. about what is going on in Vegas.

Have fun

By the way, What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas only works if there are no witnesses.

DO NOT go to Circus Circus. Last trip I stayed at Sams town. Not on the strip but has a free shuttle right to the middle of the strip. 45-$49 per night during the week. It's about 15 mi off the strip and has everything you might need. Just not the glamour and glitz of the strip. Beautiful courtyard with decent restaraunts, and nice casino, and great drinks.

Last I remember going to Vegas... New York, New York usually has a pretty decent hotel fare for a small budget... not sure how much it's changed now... but also those older hotels on the strip are competing with the much larger and newer hotels, so they are more likely to give you a cheaper rate.

Stay on the old strip, not the new one. Make reservations, but before checking in, just walk in a couple and ask for rates, saved me $$ every time

Make sure there is not a cancellation fee on the reservation

Have been staying @ the Frontier for years...it's right there on the strip, has good rooms, fun casino and Margarita's Cantina is some fantastic food!

Circus Circus would be my first choice for budget yet decent lodging on the strip.

Regarding the two you mentioned, Excalibur would be my choice.

~~the freemont hotel is about the most reasonable priced to stay at and you are not far from the strip, plus the lightshow at night on freemont street is super~~
