Ok I have 4 cats so dont even try and say get rif of 1, not gonna happen. Anyhow I have 2 boys and 2 girls, the girls dont like anyone and the boys are best buds. The youngest boy (Bean) I raised from 2 weeks old as he was neglected by his mama. When I brought him home none of the 3 cats wanted anything to do with him. I tried to teach him things like a mama kitty. Eventually my other male (Lofu) decided he would clean the kitten and they have bonded, they have to be in the same room together all the time. Anyhow now Bean is grown up and he terrorizes my girls. THEY SCREAM. He just chases them down or hunts them. This needs to stop. They are all neuteret/spayed so its not a mating thing. Ive tried saying no, scruffing him, howling at him/hissing, chasing him down, NOTHING WORKS. This cat doesnt care!! Recently ive tried locking him in a room for 10 mins. Dunno if it works yet. What can I do to get this cat to stop chasing?

My other male (Lofu) used to chase the girls too but not so constantly, its as though he passed the torch! Bean is his protege! Also when the girls retaliate and smack back the older male cat (not naughty kitty) will jump in and protect Bean.

Hi there. There are a couple of things I'd try involving positive reinforcement. (All the methods you've been using so far involve negative punishment when the girls are around, so you're inadvertantly antagonizing the situation by creating more negativity in relation to him being around the female cats. Go with positivity to hange his attitude with them.)
1.) Only feed him or offer treats, catnip, and affection when he's in the same room with the girls and he's being civil. That way, he only gets things he likes when they're there, thereby associating them with all of the GOOD things in his life.
2.) Get something called a Feliway Diffuser from your local pet store and plug it in. It emits happy cat pheromones which helps to calm them. They also make a spray which you can use if there are specific areas where misbehavior usually occurs.
3.) Keep them separated when you're not home to avoid the problem behavior unless you're there to supervise. Ignore him when he's alone. Separate him when he's not being nice. It is punishment alone to ignore him, or to separate him from his male buddy. 3-5 minutes is enough to make an impact on kitty brains. They can't remember why they were separated if it is much longer than that. That is enough punishing.
4.) If it continues after you've tried all of that, you should have a vet look at him. Sometimes there may be a health issue that causes behavioral problems, and a vet would be more likely to find it. Also, they can prescribe medication to help with aggression if warranted.
Good luck with this little boy. It is very true that hand-raised kittens can be a little...uh...different...than cat-mom-raised kitties. Also, you need to watch out for the fighting because of potential abscesses, as someone already mentioned. Make sure to provide lots of climbing areas, hiding spots, and plenty of litter boxes to help relieve stress. (Generally 1 more litter box than the number of cats is a good rule of thumb.) Stress and fighting often leads to inappropriate elimination outside of the litterbox. Clean them often. Please follow up to let me know how it goes!

Male cats even tho neutered still produce some male hormones from the pancreas, thus causing them to naturally want to be dominant. I am a Veterinary Technician and we also see on a REGULAR basis, cats that have been bottle fed and raised by humans instead of their feline mothers are far more aggressive towards other animals, and many times even people. You may need to give the males their own room. Same for the females. We treat cats with abscesses(large puss filled sores) on a daily basis caused from bites from the other family cats. Only allow them to be together when you are present with a WATER BOTTLE to squirt when Bean is acting up. He may (or may not) get the idea eventually that his behavior is not acceptable.

My boy cat, Bob which stands for bad orange beast, does this all the time to my girl cat Luna. Fortunately she's just as big and can defend herself. I think it's just what boy cats do. Maybe try a spray bottle filled with water and enforce the law like Wyatt Earp.
If that doesn't work and he just is afraid of the water bottle I guess you could just paste a picture of a water bottle on the girl cats (just kidding that would make them walk sideways).

a lot of times its just a kitten being a kitten, my 1 year old male did that to my 1 1/2 year old female (neither of them were fixed at the time, guess what came next ) any way, he clenched on to her sooo tight he drew blood from her neck, i locked him in the garage for about 10 minutes and i reward him when hes being good, play with him a lot and make sure i always have some fancy feast around the house, he still acts like a kitten but more with human interaction, not terrorizing the female.

Good for you at resolving to fix the issue and not get rid of your pet!!

I had problems with our cats similar to this. It was suggested to me that since cats are very scent oriented, that I rub the cats with a towel and then rub the other cats with the towel. This gets them all with the same scent on them. When I did this the fighting and hissing stopped between our cats. They still rough house with each other though. Stalk each other, smack and roll around. I like to give them a dose of catnip when they are being really rough with each other. This usually calms them down and makes a more peaceful home for a few hours. LOL

get an empty coffee can and fill it 10-12 pennies and shake it really loudly when he starts to chase, then fill a water bottle up with water and spray him just once and continue to shake the can. I have 3 cats and one of them is a jungle kitty hunter ***** and likes to hunt the other ones and she drives me CRAZY and this has seemed to help a lot. she HATES the noise. Hope this helps

he might be bored. do you have a decent kitty condo for them to play on?? cats have a very high pray drive, esp. indoor cats, because the cant "go out on the prowl" like an outdoor cat can.

you can try a large kitty condo that has TONS of things to play with..tunnels to go through...levels to climb...and scratch posts to tear up.
also..if he is an indoor cat...it would help all of them to have some sort of in-closed play area outside for them to run around in, so that they can "stalk birds" and smell the great outdoors with out getting hurt away from the house.
do a web search with "kitty condo" and "outdoor cat inclosure's" and see what you come up with!
good luck!

he's just establishing dominance. He's also a boy, they like terrorizing girls. Our boys do that to our girl kitties too. They won't hurt them.
