Could God "save" me if I didn't want him to?

2006-06-29 17:56:53 · 54 answers · asked by Anonymous in Society & Culture Religion & Spirituality

So basically, what I'm hearing here is four different things:
1) No he can't, it takes me accepting him-Which would prove he isn't omnipotent
2) He could, but he won't-Which would prove he isn't omnibenevolent
3) No matter what, I'm "saved", no choice in the matter what-so-ever-So basically no matter what I do in life, I'm saved? Awesome, free ticket into heaven for everyone!
4) He doesn't exist-what I've been thinking all along anyway.

Well, it is possible, but He wouldn't. God is not one to bombard into your life if you don't want Him in it. God allows His Children the freedom of choice, that is, free will. This was decided at the beginning of time, Adam and Eve ate the apple because God gave them the choice. Understand, though, that every choice has consequences, whether that be positive or negative. Often, those consequences are built into the action itself. For example, the Adam and Eve story. They were warned by God to avoid the fruit, yet they ate it anyways. As a result, sin entered the world. Being that this was the tree of life and knowledge, we could anticipate that this would be the result of the decision. The same is true for anything else in life. God bless!

This does not prove against His omnibenevolence, as He is perfectly capable of forcing you to believe in Him. He just chooses not to force it upon you, because He loves you to the point of giving you free will. He will never force anyone to do anything. In His goodness and mercy, that is the way He is.

I'm a little confused on what you mean by "save", but here it goes: God gives man free will. You choose to do what is right or you choose to do what is wrong. You choose to end your life or let it happen when it's supposed to. You choose to ask God to save you by asking him to come into your life and ask for the forgiveness of your sins and have God take the wheel or you choose not to accept God and turn your back from God knocking on your door. If you don't want your soul to be saved that is your choice and don't blame God when it is too late.

There are some churches that say that if you were ever SAVED - you remain so and have no further choice in the matter and no matter what you do or say, you will be accepted - does this mean - I wonder - that there is a caste system in heaven??

The beauty of God is that he gives us Free Will right from the beginning. So, no you are not going to be 'forced" into being saved. You have to choose salvation.

As to God's being omnibenevolent- is it benevolent to force someone into a relationship with you? NO. Between humans, it's considered abusive.

God didn't make automatons to mindlessly follow him, he made people able to choose a relationship with him. That's what "salvation" really is... being saved from that which separates us from God.
Should you choose NOT to have a relationship with him, upon your death He will give you exactly what you want- complete separation from Himself. He'll never bother you again wanting to be close to you, but you'll never have the chance to change your mind.

as it is well said God helps those who help themselves.
in the same way if u r just leaving every thing on God even the duties and jobs asseinged to you then u r getting nothing from His Mighty Court. Quran Says. A man gets only the thing for what he tries.

The one thing you have that God cannot take away... it is a likeness that He gave us like the bible says He created us in his likeness and image...one of those likenesses was sovereignty liberty ..freedom....God offered to every man the way the truth and the life ..Jesus..but will not force you to accept him....if you truly desire to know the truth the way and life consider Jesus...God bless

God Loves you so much. He is waiting for you to believe and accept Him, but what He will not do is to impose/ force Himself unto you. You have to invite Him into your life and accept Him as your Saviour.... I can't imagine not having Him in my life. There is actually more to this life than earning money that i can't even bring with me when i die! God Bless you

I would have to say yes because we are all saved spiritually because if he didn't save us, then who did? He died on the cross for a reason and it was to "save" us all. So in a way, you were saved before you were born.
