It is more confusing if you try to figure out how it was connected. Pull out (disconnect) ALL cable from TV, PS2 and VCR/DVD combo. Follow my instruction step by step.
1. Connect PS2 output to TV input 1 ( or VIDEO 1 ). Red to red, white to white and yellow to yellow.
2. Connect VCR/DVD output to TV input 2 (or Video 2). again red to red, white to white and yellow to yellow.
3. Run a game on PS2 and play your VCR simultaneously and select on the Tv remote , Video 1 and video 2. There you go..... works, right?
Note. If either the PS2 or combo no picture, then you will have to replace the faulty yellow cable.

If he has it all hooked up lets presume it works. Turn on the TV and put it on ch3. Turn on the VCR and put the tape in. It should go automaticly in to the play mode and you should see it and hear it. The blank screen is due the TV is set up for the DVD or PS2 and has to go to ch 3 to get the video from the VCR.

ok lets assume u have an old tv with either one input or is even older and uses coaxial, so unplug everything, then plug the ps2 into the dvd/vcr combo in to "input" then after u do that plug the coaxial(the thick black cable wire) into the back of the vcr/dvd combo and plug the other end into the back of the tv
