Both hands on the wheel 10 and 4 position {clock position}seat belt on, both turn signals work, brake lights, horn, windshield wipers, headlights dim and bright, hand signals out the window of drivers seat. Look over your shoulder when safe and don~t rely on your side mirrors and rear view mirror. Use them but always look too.Don~t talk let the instructor do so, no radio on,no tailgating at least 4 or 2 car lenghts between you and the other car, red light siren pull over to the right and stop as long as there is no car or pedestrian there. No hollywood stops make sure you come to a full stop at all times.

First thing you do is remain calm. Do a review of the road rules slowly. The person testing you is making sure you follow the rules. Buckle your seat belt. Check to see if theirs is buckled. Put your hands on the wheels at 2 and 10 o'clock position. Take a deep beathe and tell them your ready. Listen to what the person has to say and try not to have the person repeat what they are saying.
It's easy for me to say be calm but if you do not know the rules....there is nothing saying you have to go to your testing unprepared. Go for testing when your confident enough.
They also expect you to make mistakes. How to avoid as many mistakes as possible?....practice makes perfect.
Use of side and rearview mirrors, turn signals, horn and headlamps. Practice the 3-point turn, parallel parking and turning technique. It would be a good idea to use the car your practicing with as your test vehicle as you are familiar with the gas and brake pedals. Other cars respond differently as the pedals may be hard or soft.

Make sure all your lights and turn signals work. Make sure you know your hand signals. Put your seat belt on before you start your car. Always stop behind the line and whatever you do watch for pedestrians at crosswalks. They will fail you on that one alone.

You can fail by not actually turning your head to look in back of you when backing up and if I remember correctly, when you are pulling out or changing lanes...you can't always rely on your rear view mirror or side mirrors for all viewing.

The only thing I know for sure is they don't make you parallel park anymore.
