Okay, I don't know how many questions like this you've seen, but here is the deal. I am very passionate about the world and furthering God's Kingdom. And on my heart right now is the situation in Uganda. Children ages 2-16 commute everynight to sleep in mass so that they will not be abducted in the middle of the night. Parents are loosing their children, and no help has come. The whole western hemi-sphere seems indifferent to their suffering. There are movements to get the word out, but nothing. So seriously what does it take for people to care. What would I have to say to make this more personal and move ppl into action?

I agree with you, most Christians, especially in America, care more about Brad Pitt's baby than they care about doing any good with their lives. I mean seriously, they drive around in their SUV's, going to movies and bookstores and Starbucks, then they complain about how greedy everyone else is.
but I'll get off my soapbox now.
the point is, God put that concern in you, and you should definitely act on it, no matter what your neighbors do. trust me, I have learned long ago you will NOT get the typical Christian to care. at all. so you do what you can, and let them answer for themselves.

Well most of us as individuals do not have the resources to do anything about it except to bring it up and discuss. We can then provoke some organization or government to take steps.

Uganda has been a trouble spot since the time of Idi Amin. Do you know about him? Since 1971, and I have seen it personally, little children between the ages of 7 and 15 were handed machine guns to fight.

( A note here - 1971 was a bad year for those who were not muslims. Idi Amin ousted indians from Uganda in 24 hours. Then the genocide of Pakistan and Bangladesh where millions died. I dont know about other places in the world but these are the two places I know of - Uganda and India,- where millions were killed by muslims and no justice prevailed. )

First Idi Amin who was a devout muslim, ousted all indians out of the country and started ruling it as an islamic state. It deteriorated to a stage where kids were killing anyone they laid eyes on. Then Idi Amin was removed, and spent the rest of his life as a free man in Saudi Arabia. He killed millions of people.

The world did nothing.

Since that time Uganda has been in trouble. It has never been back to its glory days. What will happen if you train children to carry machine guns? The same as what is happening every where in the world where Muslims do not like what others are doing.

The world's people do care. But what can individuals do? When you see a problem, it has to be a collective effort. Everyone has to want to change the world and the criminals brought to be punished.

It has to be done or the problems will continue on and on.

One good thing you can do is write to the United Nations. Get a petition together and send it to them. See if it works. I dont know how strong United Nations is because it lets human rights violating countries sit on human rights council.

Believe me, the rest of the world does not have what America and Canada have and it hurts to see that we can spend money in space travel but not improve the well being of ourselves.

All religions have money to build one more house for worship but no money to make the life of a destitute a little better.

I have read many articles on this, and I think it is disgusting.

The western world has been desensitized.
We see these things happen so often in the world today, that we don't feel empathy for these people. We don't think of them as people with families, thoughts, emotions - because it is just so prevalent.

Hollywood isn't exactly helping, either. Many movies and games today turn killers and psychos into hero's and some people idolise these characters and eventually imitate them.

I hope God's Kingdom isn't too far away (which I don't believe it is) because I can't stand to see these things anymore.
I cry about these things every night when I pray.

I know about the horrors of Uganda, but why nobody cares is that people in North America have accepted Africa as being in a constant state of revolution and genocide. We have heard it all before or at least we think we have. It's depressing, yes, but the organizations to help are just not publicized enough, and we think America has its own problems.
Also, can America really police the world, because that's what it would take to help them.

You have a good heart. Don't loose faith by eating yourself up trying to understand things like this. People really do care and are good (in general). Sometimes good people just don't understand or don't realize what real suffering is, and we have no right to make them understand it. Understand this; if that was the only terrible thing happening in this world today, it would be stopped IMMEDIATELY, without a doubt. Don't give up.

Jesus Christ is the only way - take it to him in prayer and if this is the calling he has given you, then he'll give you the connections you need to make a difference - and never underestimate the power of prayer for those children everytime they cross your mind. www.oneplace.com has numerous ministries listed - start contacting them and see if one of them is already on the ball - and if not, why? Be an activist.

Unfortunately, money, oil, political power or gain, religious conquest, usable ground for setting up military bases etc...
Compassion, which I am glad to see a dose of (even if only electronic) is not a commodity in todays world.

It's none of my business.

It seems to me the US has far more pressing problems than concerning ourselves with people who have relied on welfare for the last 50 years that I'm aware of.

Maybe they should stop waging war on each other, having children they can't feed, and then they wouldn't need help.

Maybe we should find one of Idi Amin's relatives. He'll eat them for dinner (literally).

You might want to email bil gates, donald trump, and a few other billionaires. THEY could do something, but won't. How about asking Oral Roberts and Jimmy Swaggert to help. They have millions of dollars and are doing nothing.

wot it takes for the world to care is something extreme like the twin towers bombing, the 9/11 thing, suicide bombers and the other things that amuse a certain country... if u do wotever ur doing quietly no one will notice... they wont give a hoot... so do something extreme.. go on hunger strike and call all the new agents... good luck if any one comes to ur rescue...
