i gues people just fear the things they don't know or understand. One of my best friends is a girl and we haven't done anything other than a hug. I guess if you are ever in a relationship then make sure your boyfriend understands the situation. It could also be the people that are around you, cause I really haven't had that problem.

A lot of people don't understand that men and women can both be straight and be best friends. You should probably explain it to the men you meet if it ever happens again. As a guy, I can understand how it can be intimidating to date a girl who also has another guy she can talk to. It seems to the guy as if he is not enough. You basically need to just explain it. Eventually there will be a guy who will get past that and understand that you can have friends of both sexes. It does take a lot of maturity, but i bet you there are some guys that can exhibit it.

Do you think that just maybe your best Friend might have made the others feel that they might not be as good a person as he was. Which could have made them feel intimidated enough to back away, men can sometimes be turned off if they aren't the center of your affection. Just an impression.

Because most guys are insecure and will see the other guy as a threat. Plus he is always there as an option. Whether you want to believe it or not, the guy friend still has sex in the back of his mind.

cause they know that you ex best friend is probably in love with you and would sabotage the relationship before it got any where and well that would turn it in to a competition and guys don't like that

Why did you and he stop being friends? Was it because he was ruining your dating life? I think there's a few pieces missing from this puzzle.
