MV I read your other question before you took it down.
I have to say, I sympathise with you. I haven't yet found a church that really ministers to me either. my brother wants me to go in with him and start our own church, but it's really hard, you know?
my advice is, just serve God the best way you can, it's your salvation, no one else's. as for starting your own church, that's a bit harder.
you'd have to get one or two people who think alike, get together and make a cohesive doctrine, and just start having services. I know lots of churches, big churches, that started in somebody's barn. you can do it, if God is with you.
hope you get everything you want.

You're getting somewhere. Churches can certainly miss points in the Bible and a pastor can even say something that goes against what the Bible says. There are a lot of great churches out there and if you think yours isn't matching up with what the Bible says, then maybe you could try a new one.
Reading the Bible for yourself is the best way to know what it really says. I'd recommend starting with one of the gospels; that's the most essential part of the Bible because there you get to read about who Jesus was and what he did.

The bible says in 2 Peter 1:20 Knowing this first that NO prophecy of the scripture is of ANY private interpretation.
This basically means that as a christian we do not have the right to give out own opinions of the bible...simply because God by his spirit gave men the word to write and the interpretation belongs to him...
Jesus Exclusively ...made it plain that the Holy Ghost would teach us all things and brings all things into our remembrance that which Christ has spoken...
Furthermore...Paul the Apostle said the natural man does not understand the spiritual things of God
He also showed in the book of Romans the there is none that seekth after God there is none that doeth Good...so these verses in Romans basically says that man by his nature doesn't seek or know the spiritual things of God
Lastly like other have said when you are going to read approach the Lord with an open heart and pray asking the Lord to reveal his purpose and will for you....God bless

No, that is not wrong. The churches I go to actually encourage reading the bible everyday. Not only does it move you into God's Presence but it allows you to understand God better. I was also told by one of my friends that your beliefs should always match up to your churches. It has been something that has gotten me through a lot of sermons and talks and chat rooms where other christians are. Read the bible. It is an excellent spiritual-maturity practice. Read it everyday and every year, because verses will not mean the same to you now as they do then!

I encourage you to read the Bible for yourself. Don't interpret for yourself though. As you sit down to read each time, ask God to let you know what it is He would have you to learn from what you are reading. Sometimes you will understand and sometimes you will not. I've read the Bible many times through and I learn new stuff every time! As my faith matures, so does what God allows me to understand in his Word. Also, in reading, who is the writing be addressed to, why, what is the nature of the context, - these help give you a clear idea of why each book teaches what it does. You'll never regret your reading! Ask God to tell you which book to start with as well - if you let him guide you through the whole process, then you will never be unsure of what it is you are learning.

I think it would better for you to read what it says and decide for yourself than to have someone else read it and tell you what it says. I've you've never read it, you should read it but get a study bible to help you interpret the verses.

Absolutely not. . . it's encouraged. Maybe you'll actually see the meaning of the passage and not what some old man preacher has decided what it means. And, a side note, never, never, NEVER, take ONE verse and expect it to make sense--- ALWAYS read the verses around it. A lot of christians love to quote scripture to condemn, but they fail to mention neighboring verses that would either a) misdirect thier condemnation, or b) actually condemn themselves as well. Happy reading. ;-)

I can tell you never read it before... we are to take the Bible and study it for ourselves.
Joshua 1:8 and 2 Timothy 3:16
Dust off the pages and read it for yourself. God gave you those beautiful brain cells and your not using them.

Wonderful point!
Do not let anyone interpret the Bible for you. Read the Bible and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to you what it says. In addition, the Bible, precept upon precept, line upon line, will reveal itself to you.
God Bless on your personal study.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, and in fact, that is the best way to know the truth. have a good, non-sectarian bible though, new king james version would do. just ask questions if you dont understand.
many religious leaders would tell you that you wont understand the bible if you read it alone, hah!, to hell with them.

No, its not bad. I did that. Organized religion perpetuates another mans opinion of what he reads, or even what he was taught. So why follow the information of someone else, when its out there for you to look up yourself. However, when you come across something you dont quite get, you should have someone who you trust to help you figure it out, cause you will have questions.
