I am an Emergency Medical Technician student and I am starting ride time on the ambulance with a paramedic for the first time Friday morning, in a few hours--just as an observer. It soesn't bother me in pictures but I have never seen anything really gruesome in real life. so how can I block out the horrible things I see or will it just haunt me for the rest of my life?

i guess i would just think of im trying to save these peoples lives. if it wasnt for EMT's i dont think i would be here right now. if it bothers you too much see a therapist, or talk to someone who your close to.

I have friends who are EMTs. At first, the images were very fresh in their minds... but as time went on, they just kind-of blended together. The only scenes that stick out for them now are the really bad ones (young children, burn victims, etc.) Those they can never forget.

I think the best thing would be to ask those you are working with - they will have learned how to cope with this already. Everybody is different, so maybe they can suggest a range of strategies for you to try.

time is the best doctor to treat it. but you can do this fast if u boldly never dream accidents and victims. always remain engage or busy in any activities. try to be happy always and share your feelings with other.

caution: don't live in dark corners alone.
