My cat Savanna, Buddy, and a couple other keep going where they don't belong. I knock them down, but still I catch them later on another counter. I don't know how to keep them from going where they don't belong. Sometimes this includes taking over the trash can. Please help. I want the cats off the counter top and on the floor.

I sometimes have sprayed them. I have one strange cat: he doesn't care what you do to him! Seriously, he just could care less and takes whatever you throw at him. It's driving me insane!

Try using a cat repellent like:
Boundary® Indoor/Outdoor Cat Repellent from Lambert Kay
Helps keep pets and strays away from shrubbery, furniture, and garbage cans, and other areas you wish pets to stay away from.
Scat Automated Cat Deterrent
Now you can keep your cat from scratching furniture, jumping on counters with an automatic spray that's odorless, harmless and stainless.
Four Paws Keep Off Indoor and Outdoor Dog and Cat Repellent
Indoor and outdoor repellent for dogs and cats works up to 24 hours when applied daily. Keeps pets away from furniture, carpets, trees, garbage cans and bags, and other forbidden areas.

Lock them out of the house. :-)
Have you tried spraying them with water when they go where they shouldn't? It works best if they don't see you spraying, just suddenly get wet.
You might try putting foil on the counters, cats supposedly don't like walking on it. I tried that, but came back to find one cat sleeping on the foil, and the other peeling up and eating the tape that held the foil in place. Perhaps your cats are normal.

i am going to have that problem this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. I actually have a sparkling kitty that I followed in January and that i do not comprehend how she will be in a position to reply after I placed up the tree. My previous cat knocked over the tree and the tree lighting fixtures fixtures were wrapped round her as she ran below the mattress leaving a path. That became the perfect time she tried to climb the tree. She purely stuck with playing contained in the present packing packing containers with the tissue paper.

You can:
1) Clap loudly and shout NO when they jump on and speak softly when they're off
2) if they don't jump down, pick them up and put them abruptly on the floor.
3) Cats rule. Literally. They want a high perch where they can survey their kingdom.
If you give them a high, visible, spot to sit, they may choose that perch instead of sitting on a counter. When you take them off where their not supposed to be you can put them on the high perch to teach them where they are allowed to be.
Cats are intelligent. They'll get the idea, eventually.

Buy a multicrop skedaddle. It's for cats and dogs. It makes them stay out of unknown places. I believe you can make them smell it or drop some in the backyard. It says How it works on the back of it and I believe it says the directions of use.

Good luck. Use a childs gate to block the door way, raise it off the ground so that it makes it harder for the cat to jump over.

Sounds like nothing a spanking won't cure. Then they will start to learn that counter tops equals a sore butt. Eventually they'll get tired of having a sore butt.
