Okay, many religions are represented here so I can see where some people who do not believe in God would be here, like those that believe in Mohammed(?) or something. My question however is for those that are evolutionists. If you do not believe in God or any other possible being that created the world, what brings you to the religion and spirituatility section of this site? It wouldn't be the mere possibility of something actually being true would it?

I am sorry, I did not mean to offend anyone. Please, if you are searching for God or something, feel comfortable in approaching me about my faith. I was honestly just curious about what brought those who do not believe into this section. Again, I am sorry if I offended anyone.

Simple. Whether I like it or not, I recognize that currently, the majority of U.S. citizens are "believers". In my daily life it is necessary to deal with them. To do so successfully, it helps to understand them. A part (but certainly not all) of this understanding comes from going to the religion section and reading the opinions of others.

If at some time during my lifetime, "believers" cease attempting to use governmental institutions to impose their beliefs, than I would probably no longer spend time in this section. I could get my humor and horror from other sections. Hopefully my answer is of the type that you were looking for.

I have to partially answer your question with another question. What makes you think that evolution and a belief in a god are mutually exclusive? I've even known Christians who believe that evolution is one of the possible ways that their god created the universe. Personally, I'm Pagan and understand it ALL to be theory. Until someone invents a time machine capable of taking us back to witness the beginnings of the universe, it's all conjecture and faith, anyway, though I do like MANY of the creation stories. Always did like a good story..

Because I feel attacked by religions and religious assumptions in my everyday life and in this site, too. So I need to try to set things right. I feel that there is a lot of misinformation about what it is not to be a believer. Some believers will think we gather in dark caves in meetings directed by the devil, to see what else can be done to screw your lives. Well, that's a very wrong assumption, and so are many others that some people say here about us. We're mentioned here, so we have a right to give our viewpoint. But besides, I'm here because I think I have the same right to say there is no god, as you have to say there is one. Would you prefer to leave this site only for yourselves, so we don't interchange viewpoints?

Umm....I think you are majorly miss guided. First, Isalm believes in God. They believe that Mohammed was a prophet and so was Christ.

But that is not the bigger issue. I believe that the main reason ppl would go into a religious chat room or section is that they have a question burning inside of them that they are not aware of. We all have a God shaped hole in our spirits and hearts, and we try to fill it with several things, especially immediate gradification. Yet, that hole gets the best of us sometimes, and we start looking for something bigger to fill it.

We as Christians should not judge those in who are searching. It is our job to handle them with care and meet them where they are. They might be beligerent or even mean, but they are searching for something and therefor we should forgive and continue to be Christ-like with them.

Atheism is an accepted religion in many countries.. Religions are not just about belief in a god/goddess. Religions are sets of believes about the nature of the world, and often codes of ethics. It is not mandatory that a religion have a cheif deity, if any deity at all to be considered a religion.

I enjoy seing the worldviews of others...I like to try and get into people's heads, see how they think and feel. Like it or not, religion is one of the most hotly contested ossues in the world. I may not be religious, but I do consider myself "spiritual". And frankly, "watching" people debate an issue that ultimately can never be resolved or won by either side is highly amusing. Funny, how the things that will never see resolution in favor of any side are the most hotly contested...very amusing.

following a religion means excepting it's rules and people following it. you get more social. i can't believe that someone on this does not believe in god bcoz you feel so secured when you think there is someone who will never misunderstand you as he knows every feeling
who will give you everything that you deserve, and much more.

They have just as much right as you do to be here. They can be curious about other religions too, perhaps they are trying to find a religious path, and here you are putting them down.
