Ok, why eat nothing when you can eat more but the trade off is to have a more toned body by increasing exercise.
Committment, dedication and total change of behaviour, it's a big ask and people don't understsand that it is really hard but once you are in the zone you can do this.
If you want to do this it is for life so you need to totally change your way of eating and exercising. This is not a diet rather than a healthy eating plan for life. So no more talking diet cause it means time limit. Stop making some major mistakes wake up earlier and get active earlier your metabolism is sluggish and needs to be woken up this is half your problem.
Here are the golden rules:
Initially cut down to 1200 calories.
Exercise 6 times per week for 1 hours a day. Do three weight sessions and three cardio sessions. No gym involved.
Don't eat carbs after 4pm, never eat carbs within 2 hours of exercise or within 1 hour of exercise.
Drink 3 litres of water per day. You can have a green tea at the end of the day.
Limit your fruit in take to 2 pieces per day.
Never eat dinner after 6pm.
Adopt of low GI eating plan this is sustainable for life!
Make low fat dairy choices
Follow this menu plan as a suggestion:
Breakfast 7am - 1 cup hot water w lemon
20 minutes later have a bowel of oats w water (no honey) OR
fruit salad w low GI soy yogurt
Snack 10am - pear or apple (both low GI)
Lunch 12.30pm - multigrain sandwich w 50g tuna & salad (no butter)
Snack 3pm - low GI yogurt OR skim berry smoothie (no honey or banana) plenty of ice, 1/2 cup skim milk & 1/4 cup yogurt
Dinner 5.30pm - 120g grilled lean meat/fish/prawns/tofu patties (not fried) w spinach salad & mixed vegies (no whites, carbs) OR 3 egg white/soy omlette with ham, cheese and tomato
Snack - 1 scoop of low cal low fat ice cream (if hungry)
Exercise is must be intense. Refer to www.bodybuilding.com for your weights routine. Never do weights two consecutive days have a cardio day in between.
Cardio needs to include running, go hard up stair wells and cycling. You get the most benefits from exercise when your body is totally fatigued and this is when you see changes.
To maintain you can increase calories to 1500 and reduce exercise sessions to 3-4 times per week. If weight creeps up again due to holiday period etc.. go back to 1200 cal and 6 sessions again.
Good luck it worked for me it can work for anyone.

If you eat only celery your body is going to move to starvation mode which will make it a LOT harder to lose anything. If you really want to jump start your metabolism, cut way back on fats in your diet for a week(WAY back) and get at least 45 minutes of good hard cardio everyday. Also, Try some strength training(pushups, weights, squats) everyother day. And don't forget those abs! Do crunches everyother day and you'll be amazed at how fast that extra flab gets burned away. Believe me, I know. Oh and after a week of no or almost no fat, try to keep it at a lower level than before you began. Don't ignore the fat burning benefits of walking as a cardio exercise either, It takes an ENORMOUS amount of energy just to move the human body. GOOD LUCK!

Get the South Beach Diet book. By cutting out carbs and sweets you will lose at least 10 lbs the first two weeks. After that, by following the plan you will lose about 2 - 5 lbs a week. This could be more or less, depending on your size starting out. You will find that without carbs in your diet, you are not hungry.
You can also go a step further and go organic. Don't starve yourself, just cut out the bad things.

Ok, well I was going to answer by telling you it was unhealthy way of going about it, but i thought it was better to explain why, then i think it will be easier you to acheive your goal if you knew how to get there the "other" way. First off, your body works this way, it needs fuel to keep your internal organs functioning first and foremost, and it will shut down and do whatever it needs to, to accomplish that. Fat is "stored" first for fuel, it will then look for sugars and starches, for a cheaper and faster fuel to burn, when that is depleted it turns to the stored fat reserves. So when it detects that food consumption is low or zero,(your celery) it will automatically convert any food to fat. When it runs out of fat, it starts to break down your muscles and turn the protein into fuel, at this stage you start to look like a cadaver, not the look i think you are after. The correct way to go about it? Crazy as it sounds you need to eat more! but not fatty foods or fried but healthy foods, more protein (protein burns fat) and vegetables, also multivtamins help. You still need some fat in your diet which will come naturally in what you eat, for the reasons i explained before, but its regulated now, extra fat is always stored, but regulating it keeps it in check. Eating three meals a day, (eat like a king at breakfast, queen at noon, a peasant at dinnertime)keeps your "fire" (metabolism) going, food wont stick, its getting burned, and your body wont go into starvation mode and convert everything into fat. But youre still asking how will you go down in dress sizes? What to concentrate on so much is not weight but inches, lets use your leg for instance. lets say it weighs 50 lbs, and 12 inches around, but looking closely, its 20 lbs of fat and 30lbs of muscle, by excercising and speeding up your metabolism and watching your fat intake the muscle burns the fat around it, with the fat gone it loses 4 inches circumference and gains 1/2 inch from the leaner muscle and what you have is maybe a leg that now weighs 40 lbs but is only 8 1/2 inches around! Get it? Now you can do that overall your entire body, look leaner and toner and lose inches not neccesarily weight, and that fat doesnt have a chance to stick. Hope it helps .Good Luck!

Here's the problem - celery has no nutritional value - so if you do all of the exercise you are talkinga bout and only eating celery - you will most likely collapse which will counteract your weight loss.
Your best bet - eat small meals thoughout the day - including meals with calories - and you can probably drop 10-12 pounds in that time frame. (and keep it off)

at first you will lose a lot like 15 but you will level out sooner or later. Your body can only lose so much jsut eating one food and exercising the same everyday your body will be used to it and not lose anymore weight.
I know you know the health risk but dont do it you are just hurting your self and when you start eating again you will just gain more weight becuase your matabalism is going to be to slow to burn any of the food you eat.

Probably a lot in the first week (excess water weight etc) maybe around 10 lbs at first...depending on what size you are already. Dont eat just celery though....eat a variety of fruits and veggies and a lot of water....eating just celery would probably just make you feel like crap...anyway, good luck!

Sweetie...The problem with doing something like that - the weight comes on just as fast with more once you go back to eating normal again. Do - salads and drink water, sleep good and don't try to kill yourself to prove something to anybody. I know you don't want anybody to lecture you so I'm not going to tell you things you haven't already heard from others. Just...be careful weigh the benefits out and see if its really worth this type of measure.
