I went on a trip in May and got a ticket that way; but it was with a group and the guy who paid my ticket paid for several other people. But now since I'm the only one traveling, will there be a problem if my name on the ticket doesn't match the purchaser's name--the person who bought the ticket? (It hasn't been bought yet.) I just would like to know if I'd have a problem booking the flight that way. This is a flight from LAX to HNL (Honolulu); and I am an American citizen with an American passport. The flight would be a round-trip beginning July 11 (in about two weeks). With all these regulations changing after September 11, I don't know if this would cause a problem. Just would like to know. Thanks.

I book tickets for other family members online several times a year using my card & not one of them has ever had a problem. I've done it through Expedia, Travelocity & airline's websites. I've also done it by calling the airline direct, but now that they charge a higher fee for calling, I do all business online unless booking a trip for an unaccompanied minor, in which case, you are required to call. To date, not one of them has contacted me to confirm the purchase, although it could happen, especially if the pattern of the purchase is out of the norm for the cardholder.

It's best to book at least 7 days in advance so that the transaction isn't viewed as suspicious, but once the purchase is confirmed via the website, an electronic ticket will be e-mailed to you & you are good to go...unless the person who's card is used for the purchase reports it stolen & the purchase fraudulent. Based on the info you've given, this doesn't sound like it would be a problem.

Have a great time in Hawaii.

Yes, you can have someone pay for your ticket with their card. However, the credit card company can put a hold on the card and ask for verification at the airport. The cardholder would have to be present with the card used to purchase the ticket. This is for fraud protection. Usually this happens if a ticket is purchased online, online with in 7 days of flight and/or the name on the reservation does not match the card holder's. This does not always happen, just know that there is the possibility. You can not take the persons card and present it, they have to verify ID as well as the card. But again, it doesnt ALWAYS happen, but there are many occasions where the card company will ask for verification.

You have to have a reservation in your name and have two forms of picture ID to prove it is you once you arrive at the airport. You may have someone else pay for the ticket, but it will have to be validated by the travel agency or airline at time of ticketing. Hawaii is great have a wonderful time.

Phone the airline and talk to them just to be sure but it shouldn't be a problem as long as it's your name on the ticket.
