How can someone hold to an opinion if their not sure that it's the truth? The way to see if your "opinions" are factual is to consider who desides whether or not it's factual and/or true. Who decides?

God. God is truth.

Nobody "decides" the truth. Truth simply IS. Who decided that 1+1=2?

If you are referring to religious Truth, then you have to take in factual evidence. You have to look at historical information from as many sources as possible; then you have to decide for yourself what sounds reasonable and logical.

No matter what you believe, you will have to make your own suppositions and form your own opinions in life. However, in the end, Truth is Truth.

But you see.. I am certain of the truth because I did my homework. The one who decides is the one with a fair and impartial mind that will examine all the evidence available and make a decision. I studied for 20 years. I know someone with a PhD who did so for 33 years. We are both radical Christians. I say... how many of you out there take the time to do your homework before making comments here that you know little about?

What is a truth? Truth depends on perspective and, even then, the "facts" behind the truth can be disproven. I think you have to gather all the information you can from a variety of sources of different bias and make you own "truth". Opinion without fact is belief, so I'd argue that every individual makes his or her own truths which they form as a result of their experiance and knowledge. Ignorance is making an uninformed truth.

You are asking a question about "absolute truth". It's a great question that I love to ask at dinner parties.

I'm going to let you decide for yourself, however, 2 important points:

1) A person's authority will always tell you what his theology is. (Bible, tradition, myself, my pastor, my priest)

2) The western mind (e.g. Catholics, protestants, athiests) all think with a "rational mind". It is a legalistic way of looking at things. The eastern mind (eastern Orthodox) look at things with their heart. The rational mind is good for determining flaws in thinking, but doesn't lead to a fullfillment or "knowing". Knowing with the heart will lead people to die for their beliefs. Knowing with the mind will not.

Therefore, back to your question, search for the truth with your heart and you will find it. Remember, God the Word, is love. (Small aside: the eastern Orthodox church has liturgical services which allows humans to participate in the body and blood of Christ in His fullness. This is a mystery of the heart which is real. That is where I get my authority and the truth.) Good luck!!

The easy answer is God alone. However, this causes many to throw their hands up in the air and give up the pursuit of truth (as if only God can know anything for certain). The problem with this way of thinking is that God holds us responsible for our beliefs, so failure to come to conclusions about God, His Son, our sin, and salvation has severe consequences. We are responsible for seeking the truth through any and all available means.

Truth is subjective...it means something different to everyone. Ultimately, I am not sure that anyone is "right"...because one's beliefs work only for oneself. I do not thing a "universal truth" exists. Everyone is simultaneously "right" and "wrong"...it all depends on who is looking at it. There is no "right" way, but neither is there a "wrong" way. Everyone is responsible for finding the "truth" that is right for them...to find what works for their soul, their lifestyle. Beyond that, the idea of discovering whose opinions are "right" and whose are "wrong" is irrelevant...and more than likely an impossible task to begin with. Bsically, live and let live...find what works for you, and stick with it...but don't fall into the narrowminde loop argument of "right" and "wrong". It's an unwinnable battle.

Logics, minds, emotions, faiths....are false mirror to reflect the Truth.

That z the reason behind all these cries of religions

Absolute Truth, can not be known, cant be read, cant be learnt, cant be heard or spoken.

Absolute Truth can be understood by Absolute Truth only.

The one who experiences the Truth .... becomes Truth

Most people's opinions are not based on fact. We are all given a conscience... a gut-instinct that is often the only basis for our opinions. There is nothing at all wrong with that. Opinion is neither fact or fiction, truth or lie.

Everything you see is simply a trick of dimensions 5-11 on your senses. You want to argue who knows the truth when we can't even perceive reality?
Just go to sleep. It is a much more rewarding experience.

I´m agnostic, I do really think that if you are religious enough you're not right, but as I don't have the clues to prove it I'm not right either, I respect you for what you think and love, but have you considered what I have to say? I haven't seen a god or not even felt it, but if you have, your opinion counts so does mine.
