If you are wanting a low cost way of whitening your teeth try this 2-3 times a week....
1st- brush your teeth with salt. moisten your toothbrush and put salt in your hand and dab your toothbrush into it. brush your teeth very well.
2nd- get rid of any excess fluid in your mouth, but don't spit out the salt.
3rd- gargle with hydrogen peroxide for about 1-2 min.
Lastly- after rinsing your toothbrush well, brush your teeth with regular toothpaste.
A dentist gave me this tip and it really works!

RE:
Does brushing your teeth with baking soda actually whiten your teeth? If so, how often do you have to use it?

I don't know for a fact if it does or not but I think it definately can help. I use a charcoal toothpaste that gets my teeth squeaky clean and helps brighten and whiten them. It sounds very odd.. charcoal to brighten teeth? But I like it over things like baking soda which can be too harsh.

yes. make a paste with baking soda and peroxide and let it set on your teeth for about 5-10 min. Do this a couple of times a day for about a week and see how it does. it works for me in between the times I get them zoom whitened.

It does not have a whitening agent in it but it does get the plaque off your teeth and makes them shine. If you add just a pinch of sea salt this will work even better. Toothpaste is nothing but good tasting soap. I use baking soda every night b4 I go to bed

Brushing your teeth with baking soda is very similar to using toothpaste. I think you'd be better off using regular toothpaste, but if you use baking soda then you mix a pea size amount with water and brush!
Well wishes and God Bless You

It won't bleach your teeth, it is a very mild abrasive and will clean your teeth very well. My grandfather used it all his life and had most of his teeth at 90. It seems strange to brush with but really leaves your teeth feeling clean and your moth fresh Also it will reduce acid in your mouth witch might help with cavities

The "baking soda mix" is just a bland ordinary toothpaste, used like any other toothpaste, but it works well.
