I'm using limewire, and it's downloading the movie at 1kbps. My computer is using 250MB out of 512MB. Nobody is uploading anything from me. I have DSL, whats wrong with it. I'm sure its not the file size, because I've downloaded one with higher MB, and the highest speed was atleast 50 kbps. Whats wrong with my computer/limewire?

ok, its 10kbps =D but i tried to preview it, and this came up:
C00D1199: Cannot play the file
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. You might encounter this error message for one of the following reasons:
The file type is not supported by the Player. For a list of file types (formats) that are supported by Windows Media Player, see Supported file types.
The file type is supported by the Player, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the Player.
The file type is supported, but you are trying to play it in a way that is not supported by the Player. For example, you might have tried to drag a DVD file with a .vob extension from a DVD to the Windows Media Player icon. Or you might have tried to open a .vob file by clicking Open on the File menu.
You are trying to play one part of a multipart file. Use a newsreader or other program to combine the files, and then try again.
what is it, how do i fix it?

Not too many people have movies in their library readily available for sharing ... maybe it just needs more sources.

Limewire depends upon the connection speed of other users across the world to your system. If you are trying to get a file from only one person, and that one person sets a limit on 5 kbps output, plus he's located clear across the country, the 5 kbps transmission could easily degrade to an average of 1kbps.
Get Rokario Bandwidth Meter (google it) to find a free, customizeable and small utility which will tell you how much info is coming into your computer, and how much info is leaving your computer. I use and love it.
Also, limewire no longer contains spyware, adware, or any such content. It's open source now, so it would be too easy to catch such behaviors.
PS. Open Source ROCKS!

your server may have put you onto dsl shaping if you have used up your monthly quota of mbs. This happened to me and i now pay an extra 10.dollars a month for an extra 2 gigs.If this is your case,it will return to normal at the start of your next month.Other than that,if your downloading a movie from limewire that only has one or two hits on it it will be slower.I always go for the ones with the highest number of hits.also, if you type into limewire--dvd rip--it will take you to a good page full of movies, and this guy does good copies.

It Normal. The movie you are downloading may not have lot of sources and the original location maybe a bottle neck.See if they are using T1 or a modem.or similarly there maybe other people trying to download it.
However test you DSL speed with other downloads. If its fine then its just the movie you are downloading.
