As if the women are fixated on an unrealistic male figure (rather lustfully, might I add) and the many of the men fixating their male love on Jesus, because it's a "sin" to have an intimate relationship with another man?
Anyone else find it a bit creepy how people are "in love" with Jesus?

Yes, I fully understand the different kinds of love - love for family, romantic love, and so forth.
What I'm saying though, is that the love for Jesus expressed by (most) Christians seems rather creepy to me in that it is not the kind of love one has for family, but a lustful fillfillment of some sort. Note that lust does not necessarily mean sexual, but it is a precursor for it.
With the image of Jesus (iconography and such) and his description, it look like there's some serious search for love - in a lustful, romantic sort of way - a psychological but unaware fullfillment sent in this romanticized man, idealized to perfection that, really, is contradicted in the Bible and the gospels (not to mention the unincluded gospels of the time).

It is not creepy to be in love with Jesus or God.
Such a devotion is in fact, described in one of the Books of the Old Testament(The Song of Solomon or the Song of Songs).
A soul intimately united with God is called "Mystical Marriage." When women become nuns they take a vow to love & honour Christ as their Heavenly Spouse, & thus, they are the Brides of Christ.
One of the numerous titles of the Blessed Virgin Mary is "Spouse Of the Holy Spirit," as it was through the Holy Spirit that Mary became the Virgin Mother Of Christ.

The Love is like that of a Brother or a Friend, nothing creepy about that. No Christian I know wants to be "intimate" with Jesus. If you know someone who does, stay away from them, They are mentally unstable. By the way, 'Intimate' doesn't require the sensual desire.

I think you're totally off base here. I am in love with Jesus, and not in a lustful way as you are insinuating, but He is my all in all and the one person I love above all others. I don't find that creepy at all.

I believe you are getting the many different meanings of the word "love" confused with each other. Your mom and dad don't love you in the same way a husband and wife do in the bedroom. Its an easy mistake to make though in todays sex-driven culture. Here is a non-religious website that defines several definitions of LOVE.
I hope it helps you,

Intimate love is different from passionate love.

If one can mentally eliminate any and all sexual and gender connotations from the word "love" and look at things purely from the perspective of an innocent child, then multiply that by infinity, it may be possible to imagine the type of loving relationship we are called to have with God. You are one of many who I have come across that will find any and every way to twist and distort the Bible to benefit your nonbelief. The reason you don't understand is you are too busy chewing on the bone while the true Christians enjoy the steak. But the logic you attempt to exhibit you would refuse to apply upon your own actions and judgment.
Fools who enjoy their own folly won't affect my faith, just reinforces it to the foundation that is Jesus Christ.
I'm running out of pearls to cast to the sty.

There are different kinds of love. The Greek language uses the word "agape" to describe the love that we have for Jesus. You are confusing agape with romantic love. In a similar way, we love our parents, but not romantically.

Loving Jesus has nothing to do with lust. People who love Jesus are obviously above and beyond your mentality or level of spirituality.

I really dont see the lust in my love for Christ. I think your veiw on Christianity is alil warped. And your meaning for "love" is totally wrong. I say I love Jesus. Wouldnt you say you love your dad? Or wouldnt you say you love your mom? Hell wouldnt you say you love your dog or goldfish or whatever it is you have. Does that mean your wanting to be intimate with them? Hell no. Its the same thing. I'm sorry but...thats a really dumb question.

Love isn't lust. That's why is isn't creepy. I love my mom, and I'm sure my sisters do too. Creepy? Only to those who have no idea of what "love" means.
