please LISTEN TO ME!!!! DO NOT USE ANY HARTZ products on your pet. i had a cat that had 5 kittens and i noticed that the mom had fleas. so i went to wal-mart and got the flea product from them and put it on the mom and a few drops on each of the kittens. 3 hours later the mother cat was having dizzy spells convulsions and fainting spells. i rushed her to the vet and she died. i ended up coming home and bathing all the kittens. we later found out that the mom had licked the medicine off of the kittens and she overdosed. we also found out that she should never have had hartz products on her because it kills more dogs and cats than you would want to know of each year. the kittens were nursed by bottles from me and my family and later found wonderful homes. now for what to use....please call any vet office and ask them...trust only them, they know what is best....good luck....and congrats on the puppies.

Bathe her with good ole fashioned shampoo and conditioner, just make sure you rinse her Very well, especially around her nipples. At this point, your focus is on two things, defleaing mom without hurting the babies, and keeping the fleas away from the babies. The best solution is to get a product like frontline, or onespot - that applies to the area between mom's shoulders and provides relief for over a month, and the pups get the benefits without having to be treated - if the pups have fleas for more than a week after mom is treated, try giving them a bath with a warm washcloth to get rid of any flea dirt (eggs and flea waste) that may be keeping them infested.

Don't ever bath a dog that is feeding just get some flea powder and sprinkle it over mother and pups but kkep away from the teets.
That should do the job for now until the pups are old enough that they are walking around then you can bathe the lot of them.

no chemicals till she is done nursing. Plain blue Dawn dish washing liquid. It will not get them all but it works some. The stuff in it that keeps the grease from sticking back on the dishes coats and smothers the fleas. Make sure and rinse momma good and I would not use it on the pups. Other than that you gotta just let it go till the pups get a bit older. I have had this problem before and it sucks.

Put Dawn dish liquid on it, W/out water. It smothers the fleas, wait a few minutes & rinse. I thought it was silly until I tried it & it actually worked. Also I found that if you put peppermint extract & water in a spray bottle & spray the dogs every day or 2 it keeps the fleas & ticks off. I have out door dogs & live in the country & never have a problem with ticks or fleas.

I used Adams flea & tick shampoo for my dog when she had her puppies, and when I asked the vet he said its best to wait a few days after birth before giving her a bath. But the Adams flea and tick shampoo works great you can use it on the puppies too! Later though, so they dont poison themselves. I really hope this helps

You can use any topical shampoo to treat the mom. For the puppies they are too young for any products, but you can buy a flea comb for pretty cheap and comb the fleas of them
