There are more than one "ancient Mayan calendar" and one is indeed called "The Long Count".
My opinion is that it's very interesting how they chose to break up time in to segments of 18, 20 and 13 (when you factor in the sacred Tzolkin calendar). I've been living by those calendars for some time and they really do altar my perception of time.
If you're trying to ask about the so-called "end date" of 2012, the Long Count doesn't end in 2012. It rolls from 12 Baktuns to 13. If anything, it would end at 20 baktuns (all the other slots, except the one that only goes to 18, go to 20 before they roll), which is another 2772 years past 2012.

If your asking do I think the world will end in 2012...when the Mayan Calender ends, no I don't.
