How many of you believe that I will go to hell for the simple fact that I believe evolution is the most plausible theory we have to explain the many diverse life forms on earth, as well as how humans came to be? Keep in mind that I do believe Christ is my savior, and I believe that God is what set everything in motion.

Colossians 1:16 (King James Version)
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
I believe All things were created by God, and evolution may have been a way he had accomplished his creation.

We did not evolve from monkeys. Our ancestors evolved from a separate species which were not even monkeys.

No you are not. There are several theories to evolution. Some are compatible with Christianity, some are not. Belief in anyone of them, even if a wrong one, is not serious enough to get you damned (unless it causes you to act in certain ways that are contrary to the Christian life.) Remember belief is only part of salvation, you have to do something with your belief.

As a note: If you read Genesis Ch 1 in Hebrew you will notice that the verb that is used for "God created..." switches back and forth from having God as its exclusive object to being a more open ended. The verb that means "God personally did the creating" is applied at the beginning of creation and at the creation of man. The other verbs are along the lines of "called forth from" an indication that while God willed certain creation to be so, it was the process of creation (ie evolution) that actually formed that which was created.

Also you should know that certain theories of evolution have a long and strong history within Christianity. Look up the Monk Gregory Mendel and his studies on genetics. Also you should be aware that Catholics had an idea of evolution millennia before Darwin.

Let me quote at length from FUNDAMENTALS OF CATHOLIC DOGMA

1. The materialist doctrine of evolution...is contrary to Revelation.

2. The doctrine of evolution based on the theistic conception of the world, which traces matter and life to God's causality and assumes that organic being, developed from originally created seed-powers (St. Augustine) or from stem forms (doctrine of descent), according to God's plan, is compatible with the doctrine of Revelation. However, as regards to MAN, a special creation by God is demanded, which must extend at least to the spiritual soul. Individual Fathers, especially St. Augustine, accepted a certain development of living creatures. Proceeding from the assumption that God creates everything at one time (cf. Ecclus. 18.1), they taught that God brought a certain part of His creation into existence in a finished state, while He created others in the form of primitive seeds (rationes, seminales, or causales) from which they were gradually to develop. Those Fathers and Schoolmen who accepted a development, conceived a development of the individual species of living things each from a particular primitive form created by God; but modern theories of evolution (descendent theory) conceives that development as from one species to another. According as these give priority to evolution from a plurality of original forms or from one single stem-form (primitive form) one speaks of a many-stemmed (polyphyletic) or single-stemmed (monophyletic) development. From the stand point of the doctrine of evolution, either form is possible.

yo, if you are REALLY interested in evolution and how it affects Christianity check out the link. Its a famous evolution vs. creation debater. its a set of 8 dvd's with a lot of great information on them and its only $99. I bought them a while ago and now everyone at work has been borrowing and copying them for themselves. There is no copyright, so its legal. I know I sound like a crappy promoter but just take a look. I think they're worth it.

Sit back for a second and keep an open mind. Ask yourself, "What is salvation?". Maybe salvation is simply being close to God. Do you know God? Do you think whether or not you believe in evolution is important to God? Interestingly, I grew up thinking evolution is very scientific and very solid. Surprisingly, it's not as solid as you think. Regardless, you may want to explore what being saved really is. Maybe it is our sinful nature that is keeping us from really knowing God. The eastern Christian church does a better job of addressing this concept than the western Christian church. (which i personally believe has lots of holes in it's theology as well.)

the theory of evolution is just that, its a theory. There are so many holes in it that it would take a complete fool to believe it..However, all the evidence points to logical timeline of creation. The more one studies nature the more one comes to realize the it took inteligent designe to make it all work. Life didn't just happen. It was created with purpose

I read a book by a former Satan worshiper. He said that evolution was invented by Satan himself and is a religion. Furthermore, anyone who teaches evolution has a special place in Satan's esteem for the damage it does to Christian beliefs. Darwin had a counselor (a fallen angel who gives humans direct advice) who presented him the doctrine of evolution.

NO YOU ARE NOT DAMNED!!!!if you Believe in EVOLUTION, AFTER you got Born-Again (SAVED).
Your just mixed-up on some thing's.
Satan came up with Evolution (LIED), to make it harder to GET SAVED!!!!
Once your Spiritman is RECREATED(SAVED), it take's the UNPARDONABLE SIN to Mess-it up Again(become LOST again)!!!!! The UNPARDONABLE SIN is not regular ole' Sin's, cheating, lying, murder, being gay, so on so on, it's a High Brand of SIN (HIGH TREASON), Baby Children of GOD (Christian's) cannot commit this SIN. You have to go way up in Spiritual GROWTH, then TURN your back on JESUS , and not want JESUS or Christian's thing's anymore, and walk away from it all on purpose. You have to KNOW what you are doing to Commit the UNPARDONABLE SIN.
If you still want JESUS, HEAVEN so on so on, YOU have NOT committed the Unpardonable SIN. That is all!!! Ditto!!!!!
