Lust is biological. Love is emotional and nice to have to make the lust more satisfying.

Reference to souls eliminates reason. However, I think it's more than just a biological response to propogation. When two are in love, they have the potential to transcend themselves and become one entity.
Couples, really close friends, family members, they maintain their closeness primarily through communication. They also exchange molecules with each other in ways both visceral and varied, but the real work is done via communication; the exchange of thoughts, ideas, dreams, and whatever else the electrical storm in our minds can produce. So, the physical bodies of the lovers, and this exchange of information, generated by the electromagnetic signals in our brains, together form the substance of entities we might call "a couple", or "best friends", or "family".
Does that sound far-fetched? Then consider this.
Protons, neutrons, and electrons are individuals unto themsleves. They can and do exist independently of atoms. When they come together they exchange information in two ways, the strong nuclear force is used to bond the protons and neutrons in the nucleus, and elctromagnetism is used between the nucleus and the electrons. Thus they transcend themselves and become an atom.
Variations of this behavior are repeated throughout the universe, from the very large, to the very small. When individual entities come together, and use the forces of nature to exchange information, they transcend themselves to become a whole new entity.
The similarities are quite striking if you look closely enough.

Love is all-encompassing and is not limited to being between just two souls. We can have all manner of "soul mates". It is not just one person who is our life long partner. In fact, that is very rare. Sexual attraction is a biological function designed to continue the existance of a species.

I think sexual attraction is the byproduct of our need to continue the species. I also think that some of our love for our children is biological, as every baby needs a parent to survive. However, nature is not one to go overboard. Humans don't need such strong emotions to procreate, so why on earth would we have them? That's where the idea of a greater meaning comes in.

Love is a way to share beyond just two people. For many years marriage was arranged by parents and Love had nothing to do with it. Lust is biological.

No, please listen to what Paul said about what love is:
"Love is never tired of waiting; love is kind; love has no envy; love has no high opinion of itself, love has no pride; Love's ways are ever fair, it takes no thought for itself; it is not quickly made angry, it takes no account of evil; It takes no pleasure in wrongdoing, but has joy in what is true; Love has the power of undergoing all things, having faith in all things, hoping all things."
This is sort of the hard part for a lot of people, I have found. They just don't seem to get that love is an action. It's something that you do, not something that you feel. The biological function you mention is desire, not love.

We all need a Partner(husband and wife). Love is given unconditionally to the other; and it deepens as time goes on. Love is more than just your biological clock ticking.

At first, love is just physical attraction, even the scientists say so. If things start out as friendship then love comes into the picture, then that's real love.

It is a biological function.
It can be nothing else.
People who have frontal lobotomies no longer have emotions, including love.
So, if it's spiritual, the spirit must be attached to the frontal lobes.

if we are just beings caused by chance and particles, then neither definition matters. existance and continuation of our existance is meaningless.
but if god has designed us for a purpose, then i'll go with your first answer.
