You've got someone working for you for seven days and a gold bar to pay them. The gold bar is segmented into seven connected pieces. You must give them a piece of gold at the end of every day. If you are only allowed to make two breaks in the gold bar, how do you pay your worker?

cut one segment, then 2 segments, leaving 4...on the first day give them one, on the second get the first one back, and give the 2 pc, on the third, add the 1 pc to total 3, on the fourth day get the 1, and 2, and give them the 4, on the fith day give them the one pc again to total 5, on sixth day, take 1pc back and give 2 pc, to total 6, then on day 7 give the last piece.....

well.. you said that only "YOU" can make two breaks in the gold bar. Have someone else make the other breaks in the gold bar to equal 7.

you can cash-in the gold bar and pay them, or you could snap it in three and snap two of the three in two and the third in three to have seven, b/c if you can only have 2 breaks in the gold bar, you break the gold bar which makes new gold bars.....uhhh....ya.

Make 2 breaks and then hold out the bar for them to break further. You didn't break it...they did. That's legal.

write a IOU for a piece of gold everyday... redeemable at the end of the 7th day, and only in a group of 7 IOUs at a time.

How many ppl are exactly working for you? what do you mean by segmented...is it already cut ...or is it just marked into seven segments?

break it into 2 then break the other bar into 2 then so forth or give it to them and take it back.
