The Army is tapping into a new pool of potential recruits for the National Guard and the Army Reserve by raising the maximum enlistment age from 34 to 39, officials said yesterday.
The move, described as a three-year test program, is designed to help the Guard and the Reserve meet their recruitment goals when the Iraq war and other pressures are discouraging young people from joining.

Depending on the reasons for you being released from the Army, you would be eligible for going throught he induction process again. The Congress just upped the enlistment age limit to 42 years of age on 29 JUN 2006. You would still have to successfully complete the induction process (physical, background check, clean criminal record, etc), then successfully complete Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individual Training, to get an assignment and actual become a soldier.

That's a question of when you will reach your retirement age but I think that you have that beat. The Army recently raised it's age limit to 42, and your time served is subtracted from your age.
Check out AR 601-210, and talk to your local recruiter. Bring a copy of your DD Fm 214. They are available online if you can't find yours.
Good luck

Three or four days ago the army announced they raised the age to 42. Prior service will be a real benifit for you and the army. One thing for sure, you'll get back into great shape.

Come on chicken ****. Why ask people who don't know. If your still in shape good. If not get back in shape.
If you call an Army Recruiter, he'll have the correct answer for you.
PS. They are really at war now. Death is a true possibility.

Talk to a recruiter. The rules are different for people with prior service. In general - you are allowed to join as long as it would be possible for you to do 20 years before you reach age 60. (In case you decide to go 'career' you will be able to qualify for retirement benefits.)

actually, yes, you can. You'll have to go to basic again. I believe the cut-off is currently an adjusted age of 40. Assuming you were in for four years, your adjusted age is 36.

You may be too old to enlist, but if you have specific qualifications you may be eligible to go back in the service. Contact your local Army recruiter, they'd be thrilled to hear from you.

Actually, I think the max age is 40. So you'll need to get your re-enlistment started soon. Good luck!
