no, i don't think it is fair for people without children to pay school taxes. people choose to have children and that comes with the responsibility of educating those children.
those with children already get income tax breaks just for having children; they should have to pay the school tax for their own children. those of us without children get penalized twice for not having children (higher income tax and still paying school taxes).

Although my husband and I don't, and won't, have any children, I do believe that we should pay school taxes because I want to live in a town/country/world where people are well-educated. Today's child is tomorrow's great inventor/scientist/author/doctor/teacher, etc., but only if we're all willing to pay our share to support that. Without a good education, where is the person going to come from who's going to find a cure for cancer or heart disease before I get it?
Also, more education correlates with better incomes which correlates with less crime and violence. So, yeah - I'd rather pay to educate the kids in my neighborhood today than to pay to keep them in prison tomorrow.

Yes, because there is no way to keep track when a family has a child or if that child will be schooled within that school system. Also, the benefit of paying for the schools is to maintain your property values. Finally, since most of the population does have children (or plan to), the people most likely to buy your house will be interested in the school system in the area.

No, you, as people who don't have kids, shouldn't "FEEL" responsible for those who have had kids to put them through school. But alot of people who didn't have kids before you, payed school taxes, so that YOU could go to school, so that YOU could have a good education, and a job, so that YOU didn't end up homeless, or on welfare! We ALL give what we can, to BETTER this society FOR EVERYONE! So that EVERYONE has a chance! It was GIVEN to YOU, GIVE IT BACK!!!

Okay, well that would mean that I don't have to pay for certain items as well. You don't get to pick and choose. Plus, you may not have kids now, but one day you might. If you think that each person should have to pay for their own children's education, that's called privatization. Many people wouldn't be able to send their kids to school. If you split the cost of education between all of the country, it isn't that much money. But, if you divide the cost between just people with children, it would be outrageous. It's for the national betterment.

But you benefit from having kids educated. If people didn't have kids, the world would (at least in human terms) end in about 100 or so years. Educated Kids can get better jobs than uneducated ones. This helps the economy grow, which increases your likelyhood of a raise.

Yes, all of the taxes do not go to the schools, it is divided up with parks, EMS, and many more. The schools are teaching and preparing the future of the community as well as the country.

These kids are going to pay the taxes and social security that will provide medical care and benefits to your old crotchy butt in a few decades. Pray they get a good education with those tax dollars you think are getting wasted. The more they make, the better off you and I will be when we get old.

All you got to do is die and pay taxes... do you think you are getting out of dying. Get over the school taxes already.....
Also come one even if you aren't supporting your own kids. Theoretically you are supporting the future of our nation... as sad as that future might be.

The only way a society works is if everyone pays their share... the taxes you pay go towards more than just schools, but schools are one of the things it pays for.
