No, it's fine. As long as you don't use too much. One packet of artificial sweetener is about as sweet as 3 packets of regular sugar, so don't go overboard.
They used to say "Found to cause cancer in lab rats" but they fixed that problem when they realized one packet in a small white mouse is equivelant to a million packets (a little exaggerated) in an average-sized human.
So sweeten away!!

Splenda: Well, it's table sugar that's been treated with pesticide-grade chlorine (bleach). It can cause all SORTS of problems, including possible genetic damage to unborn foetuses.
Sweet & Low: Long known to be carcinogenic
Nutrasweet: a reversed amino acid that many people have an allergic reaction to (in epileptics it can cause seisures); also possibly connected to symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis in some people.
Also, because of the sweet taste, artificial sweeteners still cause insulin release, so they really don't help with losing weight.

yes they are harmful. sweet and low has been linked to cancer. splenda may be safer, but really it's affects in the long term won't be known for 20-30 years.

I believe sweet and low and equal are bad for you because they are artificial but splenda is made from real sugar so they say it is harmless.

some types are. but the argument is still contoversial over to what extent the harm could be. usually the ones up for defending are aspartame (like in equal) and sorbitol...
stick to a controlled serving of plain sugar i say.

No, it is relatively safe.
The sugar lobby, one of the strongest in the nation, is purporting this myth.
Did you know white sugar is bleached to make it snow white? White sugar is bad too.
