I didn't like it at all. My mother made the hair stylist use rollers that were WAAYY too small and i looked similar to a poodle. It loosened a bit and when my hair grew longer, (maybe 8-10 months after the perm), i liked it. My advice is to get the size curls that YOU want, and don't let anyone convince you differently. (Keep in mind that they DO loosen after about 2-3 weeks.)
As far as styling goes, do NOT brush your hair. Use picks or wide-toothed combs to de-tangle, and you can use spray gel, or mousse to style depending on what look you're going for. There should be specific products just for curls. (It will say on the bottle.)
Hope I could be of help.

Yes. Many of them.
Perming is a great way to add texture, body, and fullness to your hair. Perms today are not like they were 10, even 5 years ago. They are great tools to help achieve the style you are after. (And you don't have to look like Richard Simmons! LOL)

yes, and if you only want curl to control a hairstyle try a "body wave" perm. it does what it says, gives the hair body and makes it easier to hold a style.
of course, curly is good too...if that's what you're looking for

I got my last perm almost 15 years ago, and my straight hair is still frizzie 15 years later. My hair folical was fried, and now i have to spend a fortune on products and straighten it constantly just to look normal.

I have really flat hair,, so I get one once a year on big rods.. It is fun on some days to blow dry w/ a defusser on the tip of my blowdryer and go for a diff look.
Then,, I can still blow dry straight and have a little body /or curl to it also.
It isn't for everybody,,but it is for me..so much easier to work w/ and I love to add gel on some days and let it dry natural.

No but I know people that do and they regret it because it ruins your hair really badly. I have a friend whos a hairdresser and she had one and now shes telling people that its not good and can damage your hair.
