Nowhere in the Bible does it say that God hates gays and lesbians. There are a couple of passages that plainly speak let uagainst homosexuality, however.
The famous story of Sodom and Gomorrah is told in Genesis 18 and 19. The cities were burned because of lustfulness of every type, including homosexuality. As you read you discover that the men of Sodom were so corrupt they wanted to have sex not with Lot's daughters, but with his guests, who happened to be two holy angels in the guise of men!
The men even tried to break the door down before the angels made them blind.
Romans 1 speaks strongly against certain sins, including this one: "Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature (themselves) more than the Creator.... FOR THIS CAUSE God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet."
Lest we think God is unfair, we read right at the start of Romans chapter 2 that Christians are not to judge sinners, since they were sinners too! You see, a Christian, in part, is a sinner who has repented of sin and been forgiven for it. ("Repentance" connotes "turning away from" sin.)
Regarding abortion: Sometimes the Bible states things explicitly, sometimes it gives us a guiding principle. The main debate about whether abortion is murder has to do with whether the "fetus" is a person. Here is what Psalm 139 (one of my favorites) says: "For thou didst form my inward parts; Thou didst weave me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made...My frame was not hidden from Thee, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth. Thine eyes have seen my UNFORMED substance; And in Thy book they were all written, The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them."
The whole Psalm is about how God sees and understands us whereever we are. The last verse quoted says that there is a plan for each person even before s/he is born. Wow!
God does not hate sinners. That is what Jesus came to show us. That is why He came to take the punishment for ALL our sins. The biblical view of people is not a hateful one. And God does not play favorites-see Romans 2:11.This is what He tells Christians: "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. And do not pass judgment and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you shall not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned." Luke 6:36-37
Is it a hateful thing to let a small child know that fire will hurt him? Neither is it hateful to call sin "sin" if a person wants to know.
I hope all this helps. Blessings. Buttercup

The Bible says no such thing. In fact it is clear that to hate someone is considered a sin. Of course, it also is clear that homosexual sex (the act) is also a sin. On top of that, the Bible is also very clear that EVERY HUMAN is a sinner, and that sin is sin, it doesn't come in "categories". So, no Christian should be hating gays and lesbians, God certainly does not! Now then, as a Christian, I have a responsibility to minimize sin in my life so that I may live more fully and joyfully. I also have a responsibility to let others know that they too can experience a better life.
I am sorry that you and others have been hurt by true, or false, Christians who are unable to recognize the difference between the sin and the sinner.
As to the Catholic Church, I can't speak to how they come about some of the "rules" that they use. Generally, I believe they practice the same kinds of legalism that Christ chastized the Jewish leaders of his time for practicing.
And yes, I think it's pretty safe to say that the Bible considers abortion, at least the "convienence" kind to be a sin as well.

First of all, nowhere in the Bible does it say that God Hates gays & lesbians. However, the Bible does make it clear that homosexual intercourse is a sin, as is any other type of sexual activity outside of marriage.
Did your parents marry outside of the Catholic Church? If so, then that is why your father was excommunicated. Not just because he married your mother.
The Bible makes it quite clear that God Knows the person while he/she is still in their mother's womb.
Christians have been defending the Right to life right from the very beginning of the early Church.

The Bible says absolutely NOTHING about God Hating Gays/Lesbians.
...It does however state the homosexuality is a sin.
(God hates no-one; But he does DETEST the sin in their life.)
Read Romans 1: 25 - 27...and then tell me, if it sounds like a screaming endorsement for homosexuality?
and ofcourse, let's not forget Leviticus (that's the most commonly quoted one...) Leviticus 20:13, Leviticus 18:22
and then there's 1 Corinthians 6:9 ... again: not exactly an endorsement there...Apparently, homosexuals are among those listed who aren't going see heaven....
and ofcourse, there's the story of Sodom & Gommorrah...Read Genesis chapter 19...Find out why God destroyed that place. (you'll find a large part of the reason was the sexual immorality that was taking place...and it explicitly says that men were looking to sleep with other men in verses 4 & 5...and then notice in verse 7 how Lot responds...
I have only 1 other thing to say: Please read the Bible. You'll find alot of interesting stuff there (and yes, some stuff that's going to go completely over your head.)

technically no. the bible does not say 11th commandment of god's law is to love and "marry" your opposite sex, nor does the bible say life or living medicine is only to be used to save the living.
But it is alluded to.
There are several paragraphs in the bible where man and woman are to reproduce. (give child, bring forth fruit, be one, union) a man and a man can not give fruit, a woman and a woman can not give fruit....and thusly gay and lesbians individuals are not providing the future for the clan. That is the basic tenant. It's all about the number of children one can raise to pick cotton from their own fields. Honestly. That's the bare bones.
Abortions. Well that is real controversial. Life is life, so they say. But what we really need to understand from a legal stand point is when life begins. Is it a physical chemical creation of life that makes life....or the philosophical idea of existing without the support of the mother (the host) that creates genuine life. The bible reads in paraphrased format from Genesis that his creation of Adam and of Eve were not truely alive until he breathed the breath of life into them. Take that as you will. Some will argue till they are blue in the face that being alive means the heart is beating and the brain is functioning (somewhere in the 1st trimester) but at that point the heart is beating and the brain is functioning....only because the mother (host) is supplying the nutrients. Without the nutrients and the wombly protection, the heart and brain of the fetus would cease. (not to mention the not fully formed body....in my mind it is monstrous to call a being like that alive. Whereas being born, with a fully formed body...heart beating and brain functioning taking the first breath of air....AND having the placenta uncshackled from the mother (host) truely means life.

To stone them to death is the OLD Testament law. We don't live that way anymore since we have a NEW Testmanet. BUT God DOES hate them because they are wicked workers of iniquity: The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You HATE all workers of iniquity - Psalm 5:5. ~ Note: Workers are people. So God does not love everybody. Also take a look at 11:5... The Lord tests (examines) the righteous, but the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul HATES - Psalm 11:5. ~ Note: This also proves that God does not love everybody in their sinning state of being. People who say "God hates the sin but loves the sinner" are not telling the truth. They should read the Bible more if they want to talk about God. EDIT: Don't listen to the people who say God doesn't hate anyone or that He hates the sin not the sinner. They like spit on God's word here. I hope they quit telling their deceit.

It doesn't say that God hates gays and lesbians. And there's nothing wrong with a man loving a man or a woman loving a woman. The only thing the bible condemns concerning homosexuality is men having sex with men and women having sex with women. (It's in the book of Leviticus). But God doesn't hate gays and lesbians just like he doesn't hate anybody else in this world. Otherwise he would have hated me quite a few years ago. But he didn't. He loved me just like he loves you and everyone else. I'm straight now, but he loves me just as much now as he did back then. So anyway... hope that answers your question.
Oh, yes. Just because a man loves a man or a woman loves a woman doesn't make them homosexual. It just means that they have a very deep friendship. When they start having sex with each other, that makes them a homosexual.

God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but will have ever lasting life.
God loves everyone. But He is a Holy God with a purpose. He wants people to obey Him. Disobedience brings bad consequences and obedience brings blessings. He wrote the 10 commandments. Read Exodus 20.
God hates sin, He loves the sinner. We have all sinned and come short of God's glory. The wages of sin is death and the gift of God is eternal life. By grace you are saved, through faith.
Jesus gave His life to pay for our sin and rose from the dead because He was without sin. He is the one who saves us from our sin. Just confess ones a sinner needing a Savior & Jesus Christ is Lord, & believe in ones heart He rose from the dead.
abortions?
It is written that a curse on the land that a child will be brought forth to the butcher. It is written that if a pregnant lady gets punched in the stomach and mischief follows, it is life for life (Old testament)

In Genesis, God created man and women to be together and to reproduce and have children. He didn't say ok if you want men you can marry men and women you can marry women...he specifically made a MAN and WOMEN to be together. It doesn't say that God hates gays and lesbians it's just not the way it's supposed to be and they aren't Christians.
Genesis 1:27-28
1 Corithians 6:9-10
1 Timothy 1:6-10 (applies for abortion also)
As for abortion. Abortion is MURDER! It says in the Ten Commandments; Thou shall not murder. And various other places.
Exodus 20:13
Numbers 35:30
ETC.

There are passages that speak against homosexuality but Christians also claim that all sin is equal, meaning that being gay is just as bad as letting a swear word slip. The only difference is that people aren't murdered for swearing.
That's what I don't understand but maybe it's just me
