from your complaints you would love Islam. For starters you do not have to work when you get married because the husband has to support you. He has to give you everything you want by remembering you will be the one who will one day give you children. If you do choose to make money he can not touch it. What is his is yours and what is yours is yours.
There is peace between the races because we are all from God.
You should read Quran and Woman; rereading the Sacred Text from a Woman's Perspective by Amina Wadud
and a translation of the Quran
I only obey God because we are all equal before God
Besides we do not have original sin Eve and Adam were both wrong
We have the same prophets and God as Christianity and Judaism

You're in the right religion, but around wrong beliefs. Christianity has many different denominations and all vary from very different to very similar. Don't lose faith in God or His Son Jesus Christ. Find those in the faith that share the true ideals of Christianity equality for all, etc. Those in your area probably have problems with changing from "Tradition" (racism, inequality, etc.), but don't let that leave a bad taste in your mouth of Christianity. Find those who leave a good taste, those who bear the "Fruit of the Spirit."
Practically speaking, consider different denominations- I'm Non-Denomination because Jesus didn't have a denomination. Learn to study the Bible for yourself and to understand what the scriptures say. Do some research and you will find that the Bible is totally for equality whether sex or race. Find a Holy Spirit filled church.

The real problem with organized religion is that it dictates what you think, rather than letting you think for yourself. If you believe in a higher power, whatever that may be, that is wonderful, and really all that matters. The things that some call 'sins' are only wrong if you personally believe they're wrong. Faith is too personal in my mind to prescribe a religion. You can call yourself a christian and still respect African Americans equaly, it isn't the fundemental belief of christians that black people are lesser than other races. Those who do believe that are confused and blaming their ignorance of religion.

Please do not get turned off from being a Christian due to people who claim to be Christians. There are a lot of people out there giving Christianity a bad name so people turn to other religions for more discipline. The bible will teach us everything we need to know about being a christian and thats what we need to follow, not another human because that will never lead us in the right direction. So its not the religion in question its the person

There is EQUALITY..but you have to understand how it works..the wife has to honor and obey...who said that is different for the man? In fact...the woman only has to honor and obey a good man...but the man MUST obviously love and respect his wife as well..God gave men the patriarchal charge and responsibility over the family..we all respect our grandfathers for the better part and that is because due to him and his wife all of our cousins, brothers in law, sisters in laws all came into the family because of marriages into the family who then had kids and there you go..but men are MORE responsible for the welfare of those families than their wives and will be held accountable for their families and for how their kids were taught and brought up. He will not answer for their sins unless he taught and promoted the behavior. Racism is an ugly part of America and will occur in every religion to a point..especially in the south..but it is a plague in the USA..not as heavily as in Europe or Africa..but it is definitely there..don't follow a religion based on these things..base it on how you feel, how the Holy ghost touches your soul when you are there..if you feel empty inside or a stupor of thought..you need to keep looking..
just remember though...if the members of Church were perfect..they wouldn't need to go to Church to begin with..

Do you believe Jesus and god are the same? just curios.
since the bible came from the one who made marriage follow his advice on the subject could be very benifitable. if you read all of Ephesians about marriage. it says wives honor and obey.true also that the husband is the head of the house and the congregation is the head of the husband and Christ is the head of the congregation. but husbands ought to be loving their wives as their own bodies ch5 vs28 vs29 For no man ever hated his own flesh but, he feeds it and cherishes it as Christ does the congregation.
I have found that by my husband cherishing me and loving me he listens and we make decisions together. But, when we cant agree we pray and his decision always works out well.
If you keep reading Chap 6 vs1-3 it talks about children be Obedient to your parents That it will go well for you and you may endure for a long time on the earth.
vs4 states Fathers do not be irritating your children , but go on bringing them up in the discipline and mental -regulating of Jehovah.
john 13 :35 by this all will know you are my disciples if you have love among yourselves.
pray and let Jehovah guide you read his word and make sure the religion is teaching true doctrines.
no loving father would punish his children for ever no matter what they did

you should look at what the bible really says about it, not what other people say it says. always go to the source. I've been married over 9 yrs & honor my husband, but he also honors ME. we have a great relationship & it's very much a mutual thing. the version I have actually says "submit" (not obey). it's mostly an attitude of the heart, not a mindless act of obedience. & you should only submit in the righteous things (not sin). it's just smart guidance, if you really understand what it's talking about & not immediately jump to conclusions ("I have to obey!"). the best parallel is how we willfully "submit" ourselves to our bosses at work so we can get a paycheck, & not get fired. maybe you can find a married couple that exemplify a godly relationship, it's hard to really understand outside of that particular relationship context unless you see a good one. of course, hating anyone is wrong & you should always stand up for what's right. having racial attitudes is something we all have to deal with. it's not always easy to stand up, but it's the right thing to do.

"Christian religion"? Well what does that mean really? The way Jesus did things? or the traditions of men?
Well you either take all the God has to say or you don't.
In anycase, the apostle Paul said "there is neither Greek nor Jew, nor male nor female in Messiah".
So God is all for eqaulity...
About the wife obeying the husband...well I see what you are saying..
I pretty much agree. What if your husband is an abusive jerk?
But the Bible teaches submission to a husband who submits to God.
Have you ever heard this:
She was not made from his head to top him, nor from his feet to be trampled on. Instead, she was made from his side to be equal to him, from under his arm to be protected by him, and from near his heart to be loved by him.
YAHSHUA (Jesus) said eternal life was to know him (Jon 17:3). Its pretty simple. Read James 1:27 if you want to know about "religion". God wants us to obey and be holy. And that can only happen through the power of His Spirit (by the Blood of the Lamb who was slain). We can't be holy by our own effort.
Don't worry about going to church. Seek God on your own first.

You might want to try another church, then, possibly anglican, if you can find one, or episcopalian. or maybe lutheran or presbyterian. Christian is christian, just some are not quite so rabid about things. andas for the marriage ceremony, that honour and obey crap went out in the 80's, Only preachers who believe a woman is her husband's posession puts that in any more. But then again, you ARE in Mississippi.

Yes. You apparently have met only a terrible minority of Christians. Keep Looking and ask at various Christian Churches about equality.
Equality IS a Christian Belief.
It seems you have been dealing with people who warp Jesus' message.
