I was at my local pub yesterday when the barman put bowls of peanuts on the bar everyone were enjoying handfills of free nuts untill I said I wonder how many of you washed your hands after you had your last pee.
No one had anymore nuts I WONDER WHY?

I wash my hands all the time. I was once a bartender and have always made it a habit to wash mine quite regularly. I know exactly what you are talking about. I have always after using the facilities!!

I don't eat anything that is loose like that. Even when I have company, I pass around the "chip" bag and a bowl for each of my guests. I make sure that they "pour" the chips into the bowl. I saw that Seinfeld episode about hand washing and it just turned my stomach!! I wash my hands quite often throughout the day. The first thing I do when I get home (especially when I've been shopping) is wash my hands. I wash them even more when I cook, especially chicken.

What a great question! Anyone that has been in a restroom in a public place knows the answer to that. A disgustingly huge number of people do not wash their hands. Most of the illnesses could be eliminated if everyone would wash their hands. It's really disgusting when doctors and nurses don't wash their hands.

You'd be surprised at how many (mainly men) do not wash after urinating. And as someone already noted, it only takes one. However, there are many other ways for hands to get contaminated even if you wash after using the bathroom. Shaking hands with someone is the worst. How many people wash after shaking hands? Also, there is petting animals, picking things up from the floor. Maybe we should just lock ourselves up!

I wash my hands compulsively almost!
Due to many years of bar tending and being
a waitress and a clean person!
Even a 3 year old knows to wash their hands,
especially after using the facilities!

Mixed nuts at bars are one of the dirtiest things you can put in your mouth. All it takes is one person to not wash their hands and the nuts become contaminated.

I wash my hands everytime I am near a sink or they are soiled!
This is something to think about. Remember everything FREE comes with a price. I don't like sharing open foods like that!

Working in a hospital as a scrub tech for the past 6 years has definetly made me a conpulsive hand washer!! Before that I washed my hands when they looked visibly soiled!

I wash prior after using the bathroom and always before I eat. Just a good habit to get into.
That's a good way to kill a party. I'll have to remember the next time I'm dying to leave.

Obsessively. And what you just said is exactly why I don't eat anything people I don't know are eating out of. Like a bowl of chips, etc. And people also have a habit of putting their hands in their mouth when they eat. I mean what is up with that?
