Good sushi is incredible; bad sushi is awful. Go to a good place with friends who know the difference!

For all those who are calling it raw fish.. you are ignorant. Its another stereotype. I'm part Japanese... and its not JUST raw fish. Lesson of the Day: Raw fish is Sashimi!!
Anyways to answer your question, sushi is very good. I'm not saying that just because I grew up with it, I've made many of my friends try it and they all like it too. Here in the United States, the california roll is popular and its only vegetables and cooked crab. Or you can just get cucumber rolls, etc. Many have cooked fish or shrimp. If you are feeling daring you can also try the raw fish kind, I would recomend Daikon-Maki.
My favorites are:
Futomaki (crab, egg, masago, avocado, cucumber and kanpyo), Eel Roll (aka Unagi Maki- but tastes likeis includes a teriyaki sauce)
Oshinko Maki (Japanese pickles.. this one is very simple, just seaweed, sushi rice and the japanese "yellow" pickles.)
*also, do not try store bought sushi, its awful. Go to a good restaurant if you want something enjoyable.
Hope this helps!! If anything, Take a friend and try it together but order your favorite dish along with it in case you don't like it, not everyone does. But I do hope you try it!

Absolutely delicious. First try the Hamachi (Yellow Tail); Secondly the Maguro (Red Tuna) and Thirdly the Rainbow Roll. Those are my favorites. Although most people think of Sushi as raw, it really is cooked by the way its prepared. Have fun!

Obviously kl, it's a matter of taste... some people have it and others... NOOO. that's not what I meant. Don't trust what others will tell you (especially some that obviously don't know what they're talking about e.g. answerqueen "if you like raw fish go for it.... I DONT EAT ANYTHING THAT STINKS SO BAD I CAN NOT GET PAST MY NOSE"). You've got to try everything for yourself!
Sushi, like any freshly caught fish should not stink, shouldn't even smell "fishy", but should smell fresh like the water or salt water that it was pulled out of. Like my dad used to say, "If it smells fishy, don't eat it!"

It is good. The fish is not raw like everyone thinks, it is steam cooked, but looks raw and is served cold. There are vegetarian kinds too if your not into fish. Enjoy with wasabi and/or soy sauce.

yes, sushi is good. just be open-minded. so, what if the fish is uncooked? it's just a different texture than cooked fish. there's nothing awful in taste about that. try it. it won't kill you.

I think it's nasty. I tried it for the first time a few months ago. It's okay if you like cold rice and raw fish wrapped up in raw seaweed. Makes me want to gag......yuk!

I had it once but i was afraid to try it so i shoved the whole thing into my mouth at once. that cause me to gag because my mouth was so full, and my dad thought i was going to throw up all over the table, so he hasn't taken me back.
