Must I buy MS Access (I am a student). I need to take an excel spreadsheet and convert it into MS Access format. But I dont own Access database from MS.

Is there a freeware option for me?

I must create an access file format as I have to use ODBC from another program to do some data manipulation for a project.

Thanks!

If you have excel, then you have office. MS Query allows for word, excel an other office applications to load data from other sources such as: excel, a database (w/ odbc driver) or text file.

Use MS Query that comes with office, you will have to find the executable file (in window's explorer)
'msquery32.exe'
usually in
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office ,
right click on the exe and select 'send to'-> desktop, this will create a desktop icon

If you can't find it, run the office setup from cd and select add/remove
select 'Data Access'
click 'change'
put a check next to 'ms query ...'
