How long has he been apologetic. I personally believe in the concept "once a cheater, always a cheater" however I also believe in the power of people to make CHOICES everyday of their lives. If you cheated on him, he'd be OUTTA there. You definetly need space...give yourself some time and space away from him to think clearly and recapture your own value and worth. I would say no, because I am fearful you may open yourself up to be hurt again. I have had this experience. Just be careful, listen to your heart, and watch his actions and hear his words.
