I have shoulder length hair that is in a few different layers. I have to flat iron it EVERYDAY to get it to look half way decent. Frankly I am tired of all the work. Does any one know of any shorter, low to no maintenance hairstyles for the summer? Thanks!

hi,

you could try a few simple things, firstly go to your hairdresser and ask him/her for loads and loads of layers and a nice sweeping long haired fringe, (not too much off the lengh)
you could also try highlights or low lights depending on what hair colour youve got, this will give your hair more depth, and the colour will last ages because it's not just a block colour.

next thing you can do is go for some hair accesserys, hair bands are really big this season and can up date your look in seconds and really easy!
instead of strighters you could try getting some of those ones with the wave in them (this takes seconds to do) and put a bit of wax in after your done.
you could also try buying a few hair slides as well wich look really cute in the summer, part your hair to one side and put some in.
also you could get some pins and just twist your hair up when your really in a rush.

one more thing when you look through cleb magazines look at the women in there and how theve got there hair to get some ideas.

I found my current hairstyle on www.thehairstyler.com. You can upload a photo of your face, and then "try out" the different hairstyles. There's even a part where you answer a bunch of questions about your hair, and they'll show you recommended hairstyles, and they all are rated as to how much maintenance the style requires. After you've found a hairstyle you like, you can print it out, and take it to your stylist. BTW, I'm impressed that as a busy mom you take the time to flat iron your hair everyday, I just wash mine and go unless I'm going someplace special. :-)

I recently became a new mom and had the same ordeal. I was so tired of my lifeless hair! So, I did the unthinkable. I had long hair for my entire life and went to the salon and got my hair cut very short. It was unbelievable the amount of "baggage" it felt like it took off of me! It feels great now and looks wonderful too! I would suggest cutting your hair. Regardless, it will help you feel better. Just ask your stylist and other people around you what they think would look good on you. Most of the time, they will suggest a good alternative to the hairstyle you have now.

Give your hair some volume. Make more layers, use BioSilk. Don't flatten your hair. It looks fuller and healthier when you have hair that moves on its own. Keep your hair the way it is and use some hair products such as BioSilk, or Neutrogena anti-frizz (if that's the case). They work very well. I have natural curled hair and I always straighten it, but I learned to appreciate the crazy waves.
