Hmmm...tough question but I think i have to go with the elliptical. It has those things that work the arms and those are really good for hanging clothes, towels, necklaces, etc. The treadmill just has that chunky console and isn't good for using as a clothes rack. However, you can toss a towel on it and even sheets, blankets, etc. when remaking the bed. Oh wait...my bad. The elliptical appears to give a better workout. I have a friend who swears by hers and she looks great! And...after 3 months it makes a better clothes hanger than a treadmill.

They're both good, just different. The treadmill is impact on the knees, but if you have no knee issues, you can get a good workout with it by inclining.
The elliptical is great too, no impact on the knees, and a workout is guaranteed. The elliptical is best if you have knee or back issues, as it's gentler but a tough workout, it's very different than the treadmill. You will be stepping up and not just on a flat surface as on the treadmill. It is a very gentle natural gait.

Heh. Pardon me for being old-school, but it has to be said:

Stair master. Really. Since steppers are "out of date" relative to treadmills and ellipticals, they are going to be cheaper for a given level of durability and technology. ;)

And....you do get more of a muscle strength workout, especially if you can find the rare stepper/climber that works out the upper body as well (didn't both Proform *and* Bowflex/Schwinn make one of those once?). Not to mention it is a non-impact workout that still gives you more of a cardio workout than an elliptical would....

The only real flaws are: it can be rough on the knees unless you take it easy at first. It isn't the trendy thing. And....you can end up taking it *too* easy on a motorized stair-stepper and in the interest of preserving the quality of your workout, I will *not* tell you how to cheat a stairmaster as that just ends up cheating yourself....

Trust me, StairMaster.....think laterally. You'll thank me later, and so will the muscle tone of your quads and glutes. :D

Elliptical is better by far, because treadmills impact your knees in a really bad way.

Ellipticals are better for your body overall, but if you desire to train to be able to jog in a marathon or something I'd say stick with a treadmill.

the elliptical is way better because it not as boring as the treadmill and it kinda like treading on a hill in a way. it seems pretty fun to me

treadmills, jogging is the best exercise and you can do that on the treadmill. ellipticals are for those who have knee pains or injuries.

Ellipticals will gove you a "full body" workout because you are forced to use your core muscles to maintain balance. Ellipticals are less stress on your joints, burn more calories and are a better cardio workout.

Ellipticals burn more calories and have less impact on your joints.
