Well, not knowing your attitude about all of these things, I can only guess at an answer. So let me ask you to reflect on this: Are the things you list the things that you regard as truly important for a full life? I can't imagine anyone not being satisfied about being intelligent, but are you perhaps feeling depressed about how you have used or not used your intelligence? Are your hobbies meant to fill some void you feel, or do you have them because they truly interest you? It may be you have too much going on in your life to comfortably deal with and you just need some "me time." Is your work the kind of work you like? Is it full of tension? Are hubby and family truly appreciative of you, or are they too demanding and ungrateful? Maybe you don't feel appreciated where you do volunteer work. Would you'd rather do some other such work (or perhaps none)? All that you list and the work of one sort or another would naturally wear many of us down, so I'd suggest that you get some quiet time just for you and decide what fulfills you and what doesn't. Cut out or try to change those things that distress you. Stop doing for ingrates. If you feel unappreciated in something then just stop giving where you're not appreciated. I'm not saying that you should become entirely self-centered and self-absorbed, but you need to begin to see your own value not just to other people but to yourself as well. You don't have to feel guilty living for yourself. Try it. you'll like it!

Hi Nancy
I know what you mean. I felt the same way until I sat down and thought about it.
I was doing things for my family, friends, work colleagues, and doing voluntary work, but, I wasn't doing anything for me.
I decided that I needed to do things I REALLY wanted to do.
I now travel, do a college course, and have a room where I can escape to and do my crafting and have me time no one is allowed to interupt this time unless it is a real emergency. I also make money from my crafting.
I suggest that you have a good think about what YOU really want out of life and go for it.
Family may object at first but you will become a better person for it, and anyway you were not put on this earth to do for others and end feeling like this.
You can help others by all means but help yourself as well.

Possibly because you dont feel valued? Or you have a poor sense of self worth? People who feel good about themselves, who know they are loved can feel happy and fulfilled even when they have very little in life. External things dont ever really make us happy, it comes from within.
Sounds like something needs to change. Get a pen and paper and write your name in the middle, than write down the names of all the people who have ever loved you.
Spend some time thinking about them and remembering how much you have been loved. Keep this somewhere safe and look at it when you feel life is empty to remind yourself that it is not.
Then find a challenge

I know from my own personal experience. Everything in my life can be wonderful but if I forget to include God none of it matters. We knew him before we were born. While were here on earth our soul longs for him. Thats where the empty feeling comes from. If we pray and read scriptures and keep the relationship with God 1st in our lives that empty feeling goes away. People try all sorts of ways to fill that emptyness. It might work for a season but without God the feeling will always return. I hope this helps. God bless you and I will pray that you find the peace in knowing him.

You are one of the chosen few who have been given a purpose in your life. Good luck with finding that. You may be suffering from depression, a food product or an event in your life could be eating at your subconscious. Do not worry you are just very clever. See your GP and talk to them. It's a hard life for all and sometimes we forget ourselves. Good luck on your journey through life

Can I ask you a question- when you wake up each day, what is the first thing that comes to your head? Maybe you should focus on one of the things that you listed above and try and concentrate on it. I know that people keep saying to you that you should try and find something, but don't pressure yourself. Take it one day at a time, even if you find something small each day to focus on instead of trying to find something big. Hang in there hun... hope I was of some help =)

SOUNDS LIKE CLASSIC DEPRESSION, AND UNTIL YOU TREAT IT THE EMPTINESS YOU FEEL WILL NEVER GO COMPLETELY AWAY. YOU NEED TO SEEK OUT A PSYCHIATRIST AND A THERAPIST. THERAPY (ONE ON ONE) SHOULD ALWAYS THE PRIMARY COURSE OF TREATMENT, ALONG WITH MEDICATION, IF NEEDED (SOME PEOPLE DON'T) ASK A DR ABOUT SUPPORT GROUPS IN YOUR AREA. TRUST ME YOU ARE NOT ALONE. MANY MANY PEOPLE ARE GOING THRU THE SAME THING YOU ARE. GET HELP, AND YOU CAN FEEL / GET BETTER...I DO /DID.

Your body is craving exercise. Every year we get older, the slower our metabolism becomes.
Do some aerobics, some stretching, some weightlifting. You will feel like a new person.
Go to ALLEXPERTS.
Look under health
Then look under women's health.
Volunteers will help you set up a exercise program.

Do you believe in a higher power? Alot of times, when I feel incomplete, I pray to God for guidance in my life. Jesus makes me feel complete.
1 John 4:7-8
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
