There are many reasons a person may be meeting few potential dates/mates by traditional means. And even if this is not the case, that fellow you meet by traditional means isn't wearing a placard stating "Seeks marriage and large family; must enjoy boating", just as I cannot wear a placard of my own stating "Twice married never again. Less than zero interest in more children." Some of us would rather not spend 3 or 4 evenings with someone only to find that our goals in a relationship are not compatible. Personal ads let one place such matters on the table at the outset, in a way traditional dating does not.
Besides, I can meet (for coffee) 2-3 candidates a week via ads; I'd be lucky to meet even one new man per month trolling the beach or bars. If I tried, I'd spend half my life just asking if they were single, local, etc.

Some people don't do bars. What is the odds of finding the one if one or the both of you are drunk? Young people are more nervous and the net is the new thing in dating. So if you don't do bars and don't use the net than there isn't much left except church.

Better said than done....a lot of the times attractive people have it the hardest because others are intimidated by their looks.
Some guys or girls are scared to approach them for fear of rejection.

Well depending where you live, sometimes the selection is limited. By using the internet you open up a whole world of possibility.

Well some people probably look at them and just see the looks, not the person within. Sometimes it's probably hard for them to get taken seriously. That's my guess anyway.

I think it is because the tradtional way hasn't worked for them. Maybe they haven"t found the person (or type of person) that they are looking for in traditional ways, or perhaps they want to try something different.

because, usually people think the opposite (or sometimes same) sex, is attracted by confidance, and when in face to face relationships, those people arent confidant, so they go online, and try to sound confidant, and that usually ends with them sounding overly confidant, and that never turns out well
