I have asked if atheist exist and by the answers I have recieved it is clear that with atheist, find it okay to ask for proof from others about their faith but it is not okay to ask for proof of theirs. You can say you don't believe in god, fine. I ask this, why when questioned about your beliefs do you turn around and resort to name calling and hate. The very thing that you accuse others (mainly Christians) of doing. Is that irony to do the one thing you most dispise of others?

Why is it wrong to ask the questions of your beliefs when you ask for proof of mine? If you are so torlerant of others, do you resort to name calling and hate? By the way you question my beliefs I would have expected better? Or maybe this to is a lesson in religon as well?

Who is more torlerant? Who is more forgiving? Just a few things to think about?

This is not making a claim that one belief system is better than another, just some general distictions that what is okay for one may not be for another.

Because Atheism is their Dogma, just like Christianity is yours. Mark Twain said in What is Man that all men are truth seekers, until they find their truths, then they are zealots.(paraphrazed, and I hope no one takes the word zealot to have a negative conotation) The point is that although the belief of the Atheist is disbelief, it is still a belief. They believe, quite literally that there is nothing out there. Unfortunately neither premise is proveable. As for the name calling and so forth, I see it on both sides in different ways, and have fallen prey to my temper on it more than once. When you become passionate about something and someone pokes fun at it or throws a monkey wrench in your system of beliefs, you tend to be a little annoyed. I hope that helped.

Religious people believe in something they can't see feel, touch, taste, smell, etc. In short, it doesn't affect their sensors (eyes, ears, etc.)

Atheists simply do not believe in what their physical senses cannot detect. Therefore, in addition to no God, there are no TV transmissions, radio transmissions, gamma rays, ultraviolet light, nuclear radiation, infrared, tones below 30 cps, tones above 20,000 cps, etc. There is also no light weaker than about a 30th of a candlepower, no air that isn't moving, no trees in a forest on a dark night, etc. Moreover there is no love, no hate, no bias, no fear, nor any other emotion that is not causing visible changes in the one who is exeriencing it. There is no justice and no injustice.

I could go on and on, but you get the idea. If by some accident they go deaf and blind, then the whole world will become nonexistent.

Of course, intellectually they know of all these things. There are extrasensory devices like TV sets that tell them, for example, that there are TV transmissions. Of course, before gamma ray detectors there were no gamma rays. Kinda of like by creating the detector we borught such things into existence. There are many other invisible things in which they don't believe because they don't know of the devices in laboratories that can detect them. For proof of God, they only await the development of a God detector. Unfortunately God detectors exist only in the heart and spirit, and atheists weren't born with these.

It's a lot simpler world for atheists. Very uncluttered.

I am an atheist and I have read your question. You believe in something that can't be seen, proven, demonstrated, smelled, touched and the list goes on.

I don't believe in fables. I don't take it on faith there is no god. You take it on faith there is one. I see an empty box where evidence should be. If you have no evidence then don't ask me to convict.

I am open minded enough to join you if you can make any kind of a case for your gods existence. Until then I await your evidence, not what you believe, but what you can prove.

And I didn't have to call you one single name. While you freely accuse me of name calling and hate.

I think your protest is a bit loud.

No, it isn't. You should constantly question yourself and others about their beliefs to remind yourself and/or them and get people who believe in false beliefs to realize what they believe isn't true.

You should never respond to someone by resorting to name calling and hate. Only those who are truly followers of Jesus Christ will be able to tollerate the extreme criticism.

God is for everyone. No other religion or beliefs are true. The reason that Christians receive such harsh criticism is because people realize that Christians have something meaningful to give their life meaning [God], and they also realize that they don't have it, and they resort to criticism to try to get away from the fact that they don't have it.

I got a little carried away :). I hope I made my point.

Well... I'm not an Athiest but....

I would think that you wouldn't have to ask this question if you even had the tinest idea what Athiesim is. Athiest DO NOT have ANY beliefs. They do not believe in ANYTHING... no God, no higher power, no nothing. Just simply that you are born, you live, and you die... nothing more. What is there to question about that? Athiesim is not a belief, it is the lack thereof.

You should consider getting your facts straight before asking a question.

An atheist is someone who takes it on faith that there is no God. They can be very stubborn about this belief, even to the point of claiming that, if you disagree with them, you must be wrong, because, of course, you cannot prove your faith to them to their satisfaction. It is an irrational religion. They claim to be amazed that anyone could believe something without proof, yet that is exactly what they are doing.
I agree...where is their proof that there is no God?

It is not wrong to question anyone's beliefs. It is immature to not be able to handle having your beliefs questioned.

But don't stereotype atheists like that. I know a number of atheists who are mature and respectful of other people's viewpoints.

The next time they ask for proof, tell them that the existence or non-existence of God is fundamentally unprovable. Because it is.

Christians have a moral standard that we try to live up to. We don't meet that standard but at least it is there and when we fall short we have something that we can be held accountable for. If I behave in an ugly manner someone can call me on it and say so. (please feel free to do so)

Atheist on the other hand, make up there own moral code as they see fit. It always changes to suit their needs. So when they attack us and behave in an ugly manner they rationalize it by blaming christians and not themselves. So they call us names that sometimes would better describe themselves. They have no reason to be honest , even to themselves.

no longer something is incorrect with atheist beliefs, regardless of what many declare (frequently people) a tremendous quantity of persons are atheists. I easily have met in uncomplicated phrases a handful of Christians for the time of my travels in Europe and Asia as an instance. almost all the those who i understand are atheists. it really is way more advantageous to trust in truth than it really is to trust in delusion. truth grants you genuine solutions, delusion, only excuses and suppositions. truth is freedom, delusion only exerts administration.

it's not wrong to ask them what they believe, or to ask them why. however, they usually just begin name calling. they have a belief system that has beliefs. they won't admit it, but it requires faith to be an athiest too.

the statment, "there is no god" must have some foundation. they can and should be able to back up that statment.
