I've got an inexpensive decanter that just looks like simple curved glass (not cut). Is there any way to tell whether the glass is leaded? I'm concerned about leaching the lead into the contents of the decanter. I thought because it was super cheap ( $4) that it wouldn't contain lead, but wasn't sure if that had anything to do with it.

Lead glass has a very distinctive ring. Flick it with your fingernail. Non-leaded glass makes a very dull thunk.

Additionally, lead acetate has a slightly sweet taste.

See this article for some more information about using a leaded glass decanter...

Well...... It's kinda hard to tell, Has the guy ever showed any attention toward you at all? Have you caught him staring at you? Have you heard any rumors saying he liked you before this happened? If so then he probley really does like you, Myself i don't think a guy would go through all that trouble just for a test, I think that the reason he wanted to be your lab partner is because he wanted to be closer to you, Cause if your lab partners he's going to be around you a lot, If your still not comfortable about it talk to him and ask him, If you like him you should tell him and see where it goes from there, You never know till you try!

Two characteristics of lead crystal: It's heavy and it's expensive. Chances are what you have is not real lead, but I would not take any chances. Do not keep wine in it for any long period (more than an hour).

Flick it with your finger, if it sings, it's lead. If it thumps, it's glass.

No unless you send it to a lab.
