Are we "saved" through works?

Eph. 2:8,9 For by grace are ye saved through faith...not of works. (Rom. 3:20, 28; Gal. 2:16)
James 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.(Matt. 19:16-21)

Does that mean we shouldn't work for God? No, because if you believe that statement, and live by it, you will work for him. What it is saying is that no amount of good works you will ever do, even if you found the cure for Aids, would get you into heaven.

People say that because they are a good person, that will get them into heaven. The road to heaven is paved with good intentions. It is just a misinterpretation of scripture, that's all.

In essence, you must be saved by God, for your works to mean anything. Otherwise, you will be tempted to think it was you who did it, and not give praise to God. He blesses people with certain gifts, and abilities, and the knowledge to heal and find cures.

All good things come from God. All bad things come from Satan. God allows bad things to come from Satan, because he created us with the gift of choice.

We choose from right and wrong. The bible clearly states what is right and wrong. Our faith gives us strength to make right choices, and our work is spreading the gospel.

Works are not enough, we need faith in the Lord. If one person found the cure for Aids and was saved, and another person found the cure for all types of cancer, and wasn't saved, the person who found the cure for Aids would go to heaven, the person who found the cure for cancer wouldn't. you answered your own question--you're saved by faith, not works. but you are justified through good works. just because you are saved doesn't mean that you're a good person. your actions will always speak louder than your words. if you say you want to help others, yet sit on your tush... then, you don't really want to help, do you?

what the two verses are saying is u can't have one without the other. u need faith and good works. u can't be saved and then do bad things and expect to be sent straight to heaven. and u can't do good works without faith and be sent to heaven.

we are saved thru faith in Jesus Christ , but faith without works is dead, meaning that if our faith is alive in us we will have the desire to work to bring others to christ. Jesus said that no one gets to the father except thru Him
