If you fill out for a credit card an are not approved, they normally send you a letter telling you why and on that letter, it will say you can go to a certain website and request a credit report.
If you have a credit card, a lot of the times the credit card company will give you a website to go to for a credit report.

Quite a few states by law allow you one free report per eyar per credit comapny. A lot of these companies that offer "free credit reports" typically want you to sign up for a service of "credit monitoring" first before they send you your free report. Contact Experion, Equifax and Transunion on your own.

www.annualcreditreport.com That is the one that is actually free. You can request once a year. Nothing to sign up for they will ask you if you want to see certain things at a cost but if you decline you don't have to try a trial of anything. I use it once a year.

call the credit bureaus, you can get one free every year. They will even tell you how to figure your credit score. Painless, free, really.
