if your hair is dark brown, you want to use a lighter shade, so dye it a light brown first, wait about 2 or 3 weeks, then go a shade lighter like a dark blonde, then medium blonde, then light blonde, till you get the blonde shade u want. this works great, it just takes a little longer if your doing it yourself. or for a faster way use sun in, just know that your hair will turn a tint red first being a dark brown. but after using sun in a few weeks your hair will be lighter andlighter each time.

It depends on a few things. First would be "do you have any permanent color on your hair?" if so you would have to do a color remover. Then, "How light do you want to go? and how dark are you to begin with?" If you don't have color on your hair, or after your color remover, and you wanted to go a warm dark blonde, you could do that with a high lift color. otherwise you are stuck with bleach. There is no way to "gently" go from so dark to so light. Especially since there is a lot of under lying reds in dark brown. But absolutely DO NOT attempt to do this yourself, you will end up going to a professional anyway. Good luck

The only way to become totally blonde from dark brown is bleach. Color will only lift about two shades. I'm a cosmetologist, and lemon juice will only slightly lighten, bleach is the only way.

in the summer to lighten it just slightly use lemon juise and before you go anywhere out in the sunshine rub it through your hair. it should lighten it a bit gradually work your way to blonde. blonde dye may make your hair a wierd color. you may want to bleach it then die the bleached hair to get your color.

A good way to do this is to use diluted lemon juice and the warmth of the sun. Go easy on the lemon juice if you are just starting out - it could yellow your healthy hair.

I don't think being a blonde is all that great (I am), whereas if you were to keep our hair shampooed & conditioned regularly, you will bring out the natural shine, and texture of your own hair...

if your hair is its natural color, never been dyed then you can have a professional hairstylist use color to lighten your hair,if you have color on your hair it would Be a lengthy and costly process.
if that's the case just get hi-lites until you reach your desired level of Color. good luck

I don't really know if they do this but maybe you can try a spa or a hair & nail salon. They might sell products that don't bleach your hair while colouring it.

get it dyed?
use sun-in. sun-in will lighten it but it wont make you blond if your hair is already quite dark.
