hmm I like the first answer- pay for it yourself! Your mom has a good point- dogs can be expensive! Alot of times parents do know whats best- maybe your mom knows she doesnt want the responsibility and knows you probably cant handle it. Even if you get a job and pay for dog food, grooming, leashes, collars and treats, whos gonna watch it OR walk the dog when its gotta go potty while you are at work??? Just because the dog is free now- unless it comes with a lifetime supply of food- its not free! Wait until your out of the house- then you can get 5 dogs if you want!

Jake, Dog care is very expensive and will you have the time to spend with another dog? It's difficult to care for and clean up after more than 1 dog. Be honest, who's doing most of the work now? I know how you feel noone loves dogs more yhan I do. My suggestion is that you spend as much time and attention and learn how to train and handle the dog you have now so when you get old enough to get your own dogs you can make your own decisions based on your experience. Good Luck I know this is not what you wanted to hear. Joe

Well I guess you have a couple of dogs right now. Make sure the dog is healthy and has all shots. This will make your mom's decision a little more towards the yes, and take a family vote. That is how we finally convinced my mom to let us get my dog Abby. Also go and make her see it. She will turn into butter and won't be able to say no. Good luck with your new puppy.

Are you financially stable to home another dog? Maybe your mom doesn't want to deal with training a new pup right now. Your other dog might get jealous because the pup will have more attention. I wouldn't get another one, enjoy the dog you have for now, later on when you're ready and not so quick to decide then go for it. You have to think of all the responsibilities/consequences that a pup brings to a household.

Oh man, those are good dogs. Try to find information on them, if in a book or on the net, and show her the good points. My border collie Sam was very protective of me. Your dog could protect you too, and be an excellent playmate. Border Collies are great dogs. Good luck.

How old are you and do you think you can manage to take care of a pup. Most of the time, the mom is the one that has to do it all and she looks at a new puppy like something else she has to look after. I would suggest you take really good care of the dogs you have to prove to her you are mature enough to take on a new responsibility. Until you prove this to her, she will never change her mind....

tell her that having another dog will help keep the other dog company and that you will help out with the feeding and cleaning of the dogs.Just make sure that the puppy is healthy before you get it.
