Both places have great beaches and beautiful scenery.

I recommend Hawaii because it is actually a group of islands to visit that have things that you can only see in Hawaii, like the active volcano of the Big island of Hawaii, like the US Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, like the Road to Hana drive through the Maui Hawaiian jungle, like snorkeling in an extinct crater on Molokini Island, like some of the biggest and best waves for surfing in Maui and on the Oahu north shore, like the sights from atop the Haliakala mountain (you gotta do the bike ride down also, its awesome) on Maui.

In the Virgin Islands you get GREAT beaches and hotels.

goto pacific islands, eg vanuatu, raratonga. much nicer.
