Lily, it is so easy that you have passed it up.. PRAY..God does not call you to do something that he does not fund.. If it is a ministry of God, then he will fund it through tithes and offerings. God has rich christians and HE calls them when HE wants.. You don't have to go around asking the whole world, PRAY AND FAST..

If you have a church bulletin, try selling ads into the bulletin. This can be very profitable, and some churches outsource this to vendors, then take a portion of the money. Figure out how much space you could make in your current bulletin, or plan to print an extra page or two in the back for ads.
#1. Get a count of the members of your church
#2. Visit every business within a 5 mile radius of your church. Bring a copy of the church bulletin.
#3. Ask to speak with the Owner or President.
#4. If you get a meeting, you're on! If not, reschedule.
#5. Tell the person you are meeting with that you represent your church (clear this with your pastor first) and tell him/her that the church is offering local businesses a chance to advertise in the church bulletin. Ask the person if he/she would like to reach out to (insert number of people in your congregation) locals every week. This will be especially effective if you are talking to a business with limited walk-in traffic.
#6. Price competitively. Call the local paper and see what a small 1/8 page ad costs. Call your local yellow page company and see what they are charging. Be cheaper and don't forget to mention that you are cheaper than the paper or the yellow pages.
#7. Promote the ads in church, best if the pastor or someone with some clout does this.
You'll make some good money doing this...

I believe that feeding the homeless is very important for a church to do, but they should not ask for money to accomplish it. It should come out of their operating budget.
I would suggest that your church look at where they are spending money and decide what activities are most important. If they want to impact their city (which I hope they do), they need to cut funding in areas that minister just to "church people" and increase funding in areas that minister to their city such as feeding the homeless. As the church prays, God will give them His ideas to accomplish His purposes in the their community.

Have a yard sale. A car wash. A bake sale. Have a fund raising dinner. Do odd jobs and donate the money. A lot of companies do fund raising projects, like Pizza Hut, Krispy Cream Do-nuts, Home Interiors, etc.

Go to businesses in your area and ask for donations (e.g. items they sell or certificates for a service they provide) for an auction. You can offer to provide some percentage of the income in return and lots of advertising, if it helps. Tell them it's to raise money for homeless people. Then, using the items/services you've collected, hold a live auction and alert everybody in your city to it. Post flyers, advertise in the paper, and - of course - announce it to your church members.

I used to participate in car washes at my church where we accepted donations. I was just a kid so I don't know how much money we raised.

Have a fundraising dinner and invite the homeless to eat for FREE.
Will the congregation eat with the homeless? Think about it.

Have the Church have a Big Yard Sale. I am sure people have things they would like to get rid of...why not put those things in a Church Yard Sale.
