Keep the ears taped and give him tons of calcium by feeding him 3 cups of cottage cheese each day. Keep ears taped up for 5 days then take out to "rest" for 3 then tape again, continue this until the ears stand on their own. If not up by 8 months old they will never come up.

My red female had one ear that was being very stubborn about standing. Her cut is what many refer to as the Long Show Cut. I was close to calling it a day when someone suggested purchasing the LARGE/ADULT Breath-Right strips and pasting them in the ear.
I tried it and after a few weeks it worked! I was able to let the good ear be free and the strips allowed her to work the weak one -- building muscle and hardened cartilage -- but provided just the right support!
Today, her ears are constantly commented on.
And FYI -- Some people bother to dock tails and crop ears because their dogs have a job to do. It's not cosmetic. Ever see a search and rescue Dobe have its ears yanked on when it was trying to save a child from drowning? Ever experience the pain a dog goes through when later in life they require tail amputation due to "Happy Tail Syndrome?" Don't let folks discourage you.

if you dont post the cartilage will form in the down position. sorry but tall ears dont come easy. mostly post at night . or two-three days at a time and never let him sleep un taped. some dogs require longer than others. he would prob be done now if you would have kept it up when they were strong. i have great danes and im there now too. post with tampons inside of ear use tape on tampon sticky side out. then tape ear to tampon then take a long tape from the BASE of one ear UNDER THE CHIN then around other ear base. this will keep him from shaking his head and messing up the ears.. HANG IN YOUR ALMOST DONE!! :)

If they stood before and are down now you may have problems getting them to stand.
You may want to try an ear form instead of the taping thing.
Look at the web site for House of Hoyt Dobermans they carry the ear form I think.
They are one ofthe largest doberman breeders in the US.
Not necessaraly the best but very large kennel.

Sometimes when puppies start losing their puppy teeth their ears will fall. I would follow the above advice already given and use tampons taped in the ears to help them stand erect until the cartilage hardens more and he his through getting most of his adult teeth. I would use the plastic applicator kind to avoid complications with moisture. See pictures of the tampon taping procedure at the link below.
Good luck with your puppy.

are they cleaned? no infXn?
if he has any scarring, they may not stand; a PROP might help. there's a very gentle herbal-impregnated support...
see any issue of DogWorld or Dog Fancy for the ad; the props are pre-formed & cut to size, & U trim them to fit.
==============
but if it was My Dobe, s/he'd still have the ears they were born with.
no infection, no worry, no scars, & no un-needed surgery.
an ear-cropping or docking is actaully an amputation, tho no breeder will like the term.

Why do people even bother to dock tails and crop ears???
Its a mean and cruel thing to do. Just let the dogs ears fall naturally. It is against the law in many other countries, and it should be banned in North America. It is just a cosmetic procedure

Sometimes it can take a long time for the cartilage to becom strong enough to support the ears. Be patient.
