I'm new to faxing, so...I want to start using my 4 in 1 printer to fax, but I only have a regular phone line, not one specifically for faxing. I have a cable modem, if that helps...
Thanks to everyone!

most definitely, that is how i have my printer here set up. The cable modem has nothing to do with your fax machine. all you have to do is plug a phone line in and you are set to go, just dont have your answering machine turned on!

Having a speedboat in your backyard doesn't allow you to sail to the Mediterranean for the same reason that your multi-function printer does not allow you to send faxes. You need an account with an Internet provider that allows you the fax option. You also need a computer with a fax program and hopefully the tutorial that guides you through the process. Those things you can find by either checking on the home page for the fax company or just clicking on Yahoo.com and putting in your search words.

Yes...phone line goes to the Fax/Printer first and another line from the fax to your regular phone.
