like my boyfriend is liked up but this will be his fourth time going to court and i dont understand why they just dont let him go this his first defense as an adult

This means he has a serious drug problem and he's finally going to have to pay the price as an adult. Minors get fooled into thinking they can get away with things. What he should have done is gotten help for the drug issue before he became an adult.

It depends on what type of drug, and which state he is in. In many states, a court case can have several required appearance, inlcuding a prelminary hearing, trial, and sentencing. Hopefully he will get some classes to help him get over his drug problem.
