Initially you will lose weight, but once you body recognizes that you are not eating, it will go into starvation mode, where it stores every sugar in your body as fat. This fat accumulates, so that the body has energy to burn, just in case you still don't eat and the body needs energy to help your body function. When in starvation mode, if you do eat even a little bit, you body will store most of the sugars and fats in whatever you ate, and this storing of sugars and fats keeps a steady weight maybe even a weight gain.

I know a girl in her early twenties, a good friend for several years...she is slim with an athletic build. She eats a huge amount of food and when she stops eating she starts to gain weight. She says that if she stops eating her metabolism slows down. So for some people, I guess that this is true. An active person can easily burn more than twice the calories of a more sedantary person...

That is a very dangerous road to go down. Once you stop eating and you see the weight you are losing it becomes addictive and you can't stop. YOU COULD DIE!! Eat right and exercise, that is the best way. Also, six small meals a day will help speed up your metabolism.

If you stop eating, your body thinks you are in a famine situation and are starving, so it tries to conserve the fat. You would lose some weight, but your health would suffer. The best way to lose weight is to burn off more calories than you eat.

If you totally stop eating you will lose weight, but it will not make you look better.
Poor nutrition will put circles under your eyes, your skin will hang off of you, because your muscles are being used to feed your body. You will be very weak and prone to diseases, due to the chemical changes in your body.

Not eating isn't good for your body. It's best to eat five small meals a day and it constantly keeps your body working.
