Genesis 19:26 But Lot's wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.

Matthew 5:13"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

I think Lot's wife became of the Earth, and got trampled, for her disobediance. Does anyone agree?

The location of Sodom is where the dead sea is today, and that is loaded w/salt..
Maybe Lot's wife was salt, but lost here flavor so was trampled over. But it seems to be reaching to make that connection..

There is no logical reason to connect these two passages. The Genesis story states that Mrs. Lot became a pillar of salt--it does not mention anything about her losing her saltiness or being trampled...or being punished further, after already having made the mistake of looking back, or turning back, as some render the passage.

In the second passage, Jesus is talking to a different group of people, seveal thousand years later, not to Lot's wife.

I disagree; that idea is not correct.

Salt is a mineral that is essential for life. When Jesus said, "You are the salt of the earth", He meant that those who follow Him are like salt. They are supposed to make a difference in the world. The difference we make is "the flavor" -- the good works we do are to shine like a light on a lampstand, good works that witness for Christ in a darkened world. Those who believe and obey God are the salt of the earth.

I don't understand how salt can lose its saltiness. I mean it is sodium chloride. It's not particularly reactive. As long as it doesn't get wet, you can keep it around for millions of years.
