My son (also 5) still has accidents during the night also. I have limited his amount of liquids before bed and he goes to the potty every night before bed as part of his bathroom routine. He does super during the day and at night he has to wear goodnights to bed. My doctor said that children progress at different stages and he doesn't know when he has to get up to go or he may just be too tired from the day activities to get out of bed to go to the bathroom. So don't worry about it as long as he is potty trained (during the day) he will eventually come to not wet the bed during the night. As a side note, boys are tougher to potty train!!

There are a couple of things you can try:
1) Limit the amount of liquids after 6:00 p.m. to reduce amount of urine in the bladder at night.
2) Have him make a habit of using the toilet/bathroom before bed every night. You can include combing his hair, brushing his teeth and washing his face in this routine.
If these do not work within a few weeks you may need to consider the possibility of other issues such as stress or abuse. This is a key symptom of those.

Talk to your child's doctor. He may have a more serious problem or an underlying problem like emotional reasons. Just keep using the pull ups and maybe wake your child up in the night before you to go to bed, for your child to visit the bathroom again during the night.

dont worry about it. I did the same thing unti I was WAYYYY older than he is. Just limit what he drinks after dinner, make him go to the bathroom just before he goes to bed ( even if he says he doesn't have to go) Just give him time, and he will probably grow out of it. Most importantly, if he is embarassed b this little problem ( I was) make sure he knows that it is completely normal and that a lot of kids have the same problem

I think it's a pretty common thing, I've had my four year old in to see the doctor for the same thing your concerned about.. It's just that they are sleeping and don't have the capability of holding their bladders at such a young age when in ZZZZ land.... I still don't like it very much either, but hopefully they grow out of it soon.... Good Luck!! Wish me luck too....lol

Well, it could be something serious, I would suggest going to the doctor. Maybe his bladder hasn't caught up in growth with the rest of his body. But if it turns out not to be something serious, he needs to be using the potty before going to bed. And if it's still happening, I would punish.

I would limit the drinks before bedtime. Try making them go several times in the evening before bed. Maybe their bladder just isn't "grown up" yet. If it continues, go to your doctor to rule out any medical problems. We had the same problem...just give it some time.

Tried and true ways are limiting his fluid intake several hours before he goes to bed, making sure he goes right before he goes to sleep, and getting him up at least once a night to make sure he goes in the toilet and not in bed.
